Sadly, that's the case most everywhere man. Also, I hope you're right

It's full of kids who were falling over at electro house parties two years ago with undercurrents of quality pushed by a select few crews.
And there's far too many high frequencies

Bassic is pretty cool but then you run into the another problem in america is most of your friends either a) only like da skrill licks or b) they frown on dubstep in general

I live in Norway, in a city way, way up north and the scene is pretty much non-existing.

Living in Limerick, Ireland, and it's pretty limited. Never have the chance to go to Dublin for the heads that turn up weekly with work and/or college (

)
Some decent collectives here though that really push the right sound, Macronite, Bump!, Jungle Boogie being local ones.
Macronite had Loefah w/Chunky (missed that toooo!

) over at Hallowe'en, hopefully more names like that will brave this backwater.
I live in hope!

for a small town, oxford has a decent scene, last week we had pangaea, youngsta, eats everything and julio bashmore. since october we've had midland, DJ EZ, claude von stroke, deadboy, p money, mosca. fair few on week day nights though cos theyre small nights so cant afford them on weekends, but rather that than nothing.

South Wales Valleys is fairly shit for EDM/IDM, we have a lot (and I mean A LOT) of great bands but not so many producers/DJs, I know we have like this guy who thinks the don playing Rhianna and shit in our local nightclub hahaha. I think I'm on the only guy who's into dubstep here. In Cardiff I know there's a lot of commercial dubstep nights, I know Benga is playing Cardiff soon. I'm poor as the day is long so I don't get much of a chance to go to anything like that.
I gotta go see Youngsta, gotta hear badman VIP live before I die.

Santa Barbara (on the coast in between LA and SF)
Still going kinda strong... I guess? After having a heavy Brostep or Nostep attitude people are sort of coming around and getting into the deeper and more interesting vibes. Could be too late though, we are also experiencing what happens "when the bigger $$ rolls in" sort of thing. There are starting to be outside promoters that are throwing bigger shows here, and our smaller nights take a hit from that IMO. The way I see it the more the merrier though, I had a fucking blast throwing really healthy nights here for a few years but I can see what's happened in other towns kind of happening here. Mixed feelings I guess.

Mate the cardiff house and garage scene is pretty fantastic. City bass, signature and obey lads have near enough weekly parties, recent bookings have been Blawan, Pangaea, Jackmaster, Funkineven, Behling & Simpson, Wbeeza, Bashmore, Donga, Cottam, Outboxx etc
The dubstep scene is pretty wank admittedly, but there's nuff bass music representation going on. Really nice intimate nights, and they always fill up. Fairly decent techno bookings at backroom too. Nick Hoppner played recently.

Denver, CO
Very large bass music scene here, as well as large established techno and house collectives..DnB is very much alive and well here as well.
dubstep scene is pretty much split down the middle as you would expect it,we bring in our fair share of doctor p, flux pavilion, borgore, cookie monsta, excision, rusko,16bit, caspa/dub police etc nights, and they are packed to the gills, alot of 16+, 18+ shows. college kids, lots of girls, lots of mdma..kids just womping the fuck out.
..but we also have ALOT of people who know whats good..I've caught Ramadanman, Ginz, the Widdler, Skream, MAH, silkie, appleblim, mount kimbie, plastician, distance, joker, yadda yadda in the same room as the above list. sub.mission knows what they are doing..they throw the big womp-fests and draw in the crowds and the $$, but they'll throw shows for the heads as well.
if anything denver is oversaturated with dubstep..it now has its own weekly night at Beta, Hatcha just played on a Funktion-1..Its defenitly the hot shit sound right now..for better or for worse..its not an underground sound here whatsoever anymore

I wasnt being sarcastic. NY is very lively. Heard bad things bout the rest of US tho
yeah, it seems like NY is the place to be in the US if you like dubstep. there's some surprisingly good cities in the south too from what i see
Denver, Colorado has the biggest dubstep scene in the U.S.

Edinburgh SEEMS decent, but since im 17 obviously i dont get into clubs. been to a few outdoor events, mostly really hard shit from the dj's but the producers (most of whom are the dj's) producer alot of deeper stuff.
fuck it, we've got elektrical sound system and DFRNT to carry us, i think edinburgh "bass" scene will last.
