I couldn't believe how many I still had queued up when I started to feel bad for hogging the decks... Ninjas definitely came correct on this. The worst mixing you've ever seen... straight cuts in Winamp and the odd explosion. Fuck beatmatching.

Unbelievably. I've DJ'd jungle before for house parties and stuff, really tried to mix properly and always just found it fucking stressful... after all my housemate's boyfriends mates had been playing fairly middle-of-the-road house all night very carefully, me just going on and playing banger after fucking banger interrupted with explosions actually got all her mates dancing. If you have dull dance music friends who are always boring their girl mates with worthy tunes, I cannot recommend bumrushing with Ante Up or Adam F. Smash Sumthin any more highly... if you can get away with playing the cheesy old "NOW, ALL THE LADIES IN THE PLACE.. IF YOU GOT REAL HAIR..." into Beyonce - Ego without getting punched by a bloke holding a Deadmau5 12" then you will be talking to pretty girls ALL NIGHT.
Hip-hop really is the best party music ever... and the best genre to ever go pop and be left with any semblence of credibility left no matter what anyone says. So many hugely popular tunes are certified BANGERS.

Oh man I can't stress this enough. I was a proper backpacker when I was like 15, but with age I've learned to appreciate Soulja Boy, Lil B and Waka Flocka Flame just as much as Souls of Mischief and A Tribe Called Quest. I think Lunice has been responsible for converting almost my entire friend group to pop music, which is fucking awesome

I just did not understand all the Soulja Boy & Waka Flocka stuff until I went to an Odd Future gig and realised it's just dance music.
Then it made sense.
