I havent ever said I signed to a major or changed my style of music for money...
I said I made 'Anticipate' for my son....
Not too sure where this money argument has come from...

It's because some people always have to have something to complain or be holier-than-thou about, they'll even start making things up in their own minds. The phrases "money" and "sell-out" are often associated with comments like that.
As long as you enjoy what you're doing and you're not hurting anyone, *shrug*

Out to Skream, will always have mad love for him. Seeing him at Smart Bar back in '09 is one of my favorite gigs ever. When 'In For The Kill' was just on dub and it was nuuuuuts when he dropped it.
One of the most diverse producers in any scene as well, and always has time for the fans. Big ups.

the fact that skream has just announced that phatty drummer/gritty is coming out on deep medi musik shows that he still loves and wants to cater for the old dubstep sound
i don't care if he makes pop. i won't buy it, but then again that sort of record isn't meant for me.
as long as he leeps on releasing tracks like phatty drummer and exothermic reaction alongside his pop tunes then nobody has the right to complain. man's just making some money doing what he loves doing- producing

Not many guys can anticipate the perils of becoming a pop
(including the financial & ego demands)
but I would've thought our down-to-earth Skream
was above a Jacko-like (blanket) declaration of love for us fans.
(our mothers don't love some of us!)
What's next...plastic surgery & gold-plated decks?

i kept expecting that article to have more of a point to it in the end but the author seemed more interested in his elaborate character profiling of various groups of people.. and simultaniously being a 'great story teller'.

A lot of the time when producers can show they have a wide variety of production ranges, especially if they are great at what they do, they can bring new people into the genre as a whole, which i definitely don't think is a horrible thing. when people get excited to hear dubstep and they start looking back into skream's past releases they'll definitely hear an assortment of all types of different tunes. I wouldn't call it selling out so much as having a diverse catalog/audience. reason why i preordered gritty/phatty was not because i love all of skreams tunes and have to buy them all, but because they are really fucking good tunes..

At the end of the day Skream can do whatever the fuck he wants. He doesn't owe anyone anything.
Try putting yourself in his position having people trying to dictate to you how to write music.
Some of it's not my cup of tea, but I'm not going to take it personally.
