Re: Bitwig beta has begun

same here....

gotta love bitwig.....2 ableton workers that got sick of ableton....make bitwig hhhaaa.

the style / layout is fresh.....you can see lil knick nacks from abletons layout used in bitwig....but bitwig looks more "user friendly" than ableton. looks like ableton had a 1 night stand with fruity loops...... anyone else ??

looks interesting but way too many people overhyped the thing and it's not even out yet. I don't know I hope it's going to be dope. I wonder what the price point will be (depending if they are intending to attract completely new users or attempting to steal users from other DAWs)

Honestly i see no reason to switch from ableton unless the price point is low. If only a couple features are improved why would i pay for a full daw when i all i'm getting is those few extra things, if that makes sense.

Ableton releasing 64 bit has pretty much erased any excitement I had for bitwig.

People are like "Oh shit! it looks like ableton 2.0 blah blah its going to be so much better than ableton 8" Yeah of course it is because it comes out 2 years later. Ableton 9 will probably be better than bitwig because they have had a bigger and more experienced team working on it since ableton 8.

It looks amazing actually.

Multiple audio files per clip. Proper comping. Simultaneous editing of tracks and clips in one piano roll (IMO the best feature so far, I'd buy it just for that) Per note automation. :corntard:

It looks great too. And yes, many comparisons will be drawn with Ableton, but all the other DAWs look pretty much the same these days anyway. These two stand out the most!

Would be great if it had curve automation. I love curve automation :U: Other than that, i like the idea of it. The lan mode sounds pretty damn interesting! (and can of course be used to collab with someone far away as well :P)

I like the way that you'll be able to work on projects from two laptops, that will be awesome for collabs :)

I wonder if either of them will have automation delay compensation. Ableton really needs to fix this. Also curved automation would be nice.

Surprised by no one mentioning the colab feature where you can both work on a project at the same time via internet.

Doesn't look as good as ableton 9 IMO. I guess we'll have to see what features they have built in but haven't shown us yet.

It's taking kinda long, if it's really happening at all.
...in my opinion

It's under look/feel in preferences. I'm using the Calcium one. Kind of funny if that's the complaint with Ableton, and that people have been using without knowing there are alternate skins.

Bitwig will have drag and drop!

Post by VirtualMark » Sun Mar 24, 2013 1:30 pm

This makes me happy! I'm really looking forward to trying this software out, can't wait for the release. It looks like an updated and superior version of Ableton.
