imo it was the right move, too
but so was scoring the TD on behalf of the Giants
it was a great coaching duel, NE's dropped passes lost the game for them
i am a happy new yorker today

This was the dumbest move in history. I mean, making them settle for a field goal, taking your time out to stop the clock so they can't run it down, and then trying to make a 1 minute drive to get a TD/field goal would have been less of a gamble at that point. That safety really threw a wrench into the whole equation.

they would have had about 30 seconds, because NY would have continued to run the clock prior to scoring a field goal. i believe it was second and goal when jacobs scored the TD.
the decision was to be down a FG with 30 seconds, or down a TD with a minute to play.
not an easy decision, but on second thought, with Tom Brady, the FG might have been better. gotta watch the clock tho

Yeah it was definitely a tough situation; I just dont think I would ever let someone just score a touchdown in the super bowl though. Putting someone up 5 instead of 1 is just crazy

best case scenario if they let them kick the field goal they'd have had 20 seconds left to go 60 yards versus 60 seconds to go 80 yards

Yeah I understand the logic, but reward just doesn't outweigh the risk. I mean, the Giants knew what was coming, and Bradshaw just barely scored by accident. That could have just as easily been the most embarrassing play of Bill's career.
Plus with the Giants field goal, you're putting the hands into that Tynes, aka the 5th worst kicker in the NFL
