Anyway I read a bit about nootropics a few months ago (never saw this thread). There's quite some info about them on

i've also heard people having issues with the money back thing, not to mention that Aubrey is an idiot

Hmmm.. For me it just makes me strip down to my pants and dance to Dr Dre.
More research is needed.

I mean, I've got an ADHD pill (methylphenedates) prescription, and I use them *very* occasionally...Like when I've got to study for a test or something, 30mg of concerta is a great way to get me focused and motivated.

It's actually the stuff in those kinds of booze that's
not alcohol - i.e. impurities - that determine a lot of that. In tequila I think it's sugars; in whiskeys it's tannins & possibly carbon. Those impurities also dictate the character of the drunkenness somewhat, although again it's all relative...
To make cheap vodka into decent vodka run it through a couple coffee filters to remove the remaining impurities.

Vodka makes me really agressive. I avoid it as much as possible.
It also isn't a very exciting drink. Not exactly the most amount of flavour

I think part, maybe even most of it, is your subconscious really. Think about it. Everybody's always going on about how tequila gets you crazy drunk, maybe you just get crazy drunk because everybody is always going on about how it gets you crazy drunk. Maybe it's just the way you drink it (shots shots shots shots).
The impurities will have their effects probably, but I've been drunk from whisky, vodka and tequila many times before and I can't really say that there was any correlation between the "type"of alcohol and my behaviour whilst drunk.

Been meaning to buy a kg of piracetam to try out but I keep postponing cause I spend my money on more important shit. You have to already be in pretty top shape to notice the extra boost. Healthy diet and exercise, multivits and fish oil, exercising your mind and meditation, all have a more profound effect on your mental state.
I'd love it if piracetam was a silver bullet for concentration, creativity and motivation, but I doubt it will give you much results without an equal amount of effort on your part.

^ It's true that you have to cycle them (among other things) for best effect - but you might want to check out the stronger racetams.
Aniracetam - ‎Oxiracetam - ‎Pramiracetam.
The L-theanine also acts as a nice buffer so you don't get all Spocked out.

The evidence is pretty much lacking on most of these, there's some evidence in people with alzheimer's, but an alzheimer's brain is very different from a "normal brain." However, I'm not one to judge if people want to experiment, I'd love to take something that would make me retain more from training/studying.
With that said, I did order some adrafinil for myself a while back. It's great for post-call shifts when I haven't slept for 20+ hours but still need to get a presentation/some studying together. It's strange, I don't feel the need to sleep when I've taken 150 mg of adrafinil, but if I finish all my stuff and want to take a nap I can still sleep pretty well, even if it's still in my system.

There is no way that can be good for you.

i'd guess it's an analog of or similar to modafinil, which is in relative terms a very safe drug to use

Yup, its basically modafinil with a lysine on the end or something. It makes it just different enough that you can order it without it getting pinched at the border but keeps it the same enough to do pretty much the same thing as modafinil.

Wtf is going on with modafinil? My doc gave me some, like the smaller dose, struggling to remember, thought it was 125 mg or something. I took half a pill cause I'm mellow like that. Heart was racing, got so scatterbrained. Got weak and dizzy. Couldn't really stand up for a couple of hours. Was like, wtf. Swore the stuff off. Tried a month later, took a quarter pill, same shit just not so bad.

It works like that with all drugs.
You take more to counteract the side effects.
