i have absoloutely no idea what wow is like. Im guessing from your post its something along the lines of what I described.
I feel like I must be missing the point of diablo 3 online? Cos at the moment it seems like a tiny part of the game. I thought from what id read that it was all about it online...so confused
So, correct me here if im wrong...you play diablo 3 as a story line based game from start to finish by yourself, then when youve done the main story line and are pretty hard, you can team up with other pretty hard people to do extra missions/quests/boss enemies or something that you couldnt do in the single player mode? I currently just dont see the point! Is it something like playing baldurs gate: dark alliance with a mate co-op on the playstation?

i dunno man, playing online is just fun, having a buddy help you. imagine playing quake or CoD or soul calibur vs the AI. its no different than playing online, yet people prefer to play online, just knowing you're playing with real people and you can communicate with them.
and anyway id say 50% of d3 players play mostly solo. its still a fun game to play by yourself.

ah ok, so it is something along the lines of the same as single player except youve got someone else with you to chat with/get excited with when something drops a ridiculously rare something or other? Thats fair enough, I just thought with the whole real money auctions and stuff like that there would be a much more global community? I guess the global community is pretty much based around forums etc then? Thats cool I guess, just not quite what I thought it was.
Sorry to keep firing questions at you, im totally uneducated about online games lol
So, you have a character with a level limit of 60 on it(?) and once youve maxed that fucker out, the competitive global element of the game is to then try and find the super rare items by killing the boss monsters over and over until they hopefully drop you something rare? That kind of thing I can get on board. Would like it if there was no max level, but maybe im wrong about that anyway! Years ago I played a game for a bit called tibia. It was simple as fuck, some kind of square grid based top down online rpg thing. And yeah, basically in that you would spend time 'hunting', where you would spend a few hours here and there killing monsters that would keep spawning again after time, collecting xp towards a limitless level, and if you were lucky getting the rare items they can drop. I really liked that style, as you had the constant character improving RPG thing whenever you went hunting, but yeah, occasionaly (only with the harder monsters) you might get really lucky and get some super bitching item you could sell for loads.
I still feel like I might be missing the point of it lol not meaning that I dont think there is a point to it, just that it seems so much like the kind of game I absoloutely love...but currently i havent quite worked it out in my head!

I'm so happy cause I'm gonna pick up Diablo 3 in a few minutes, Torchlight 2 is coming like, next month, then there's this indie game made from some of the guys who made Titan Quest called "Grim Dawn" - so buying that.
And then there's this f2p that's in closed beta although you can pay 10$ to get in it, and its called Path of Exile.
So many hack and slash games

!

You got it? it's good then?
Nah, not yet. I'm absolutely choc-bloc with work at the moment, and can't risk it, but am absolutely gritting my teeth for a moment where I can bite.
I can't understand how some people are umming and arring about it. There hasn't been a single Blizzard game that has failed to absolutely knock everyone's socks off, and there isn't a fighting chance in hell that they'd let this one drop.
And I'm all for Blizzard tightening up controls on the game, since Diablo 2 just became an absolute mess with tricksters.
I completely grew up on Diablo - remember crying to my dad and telling him never to let me play it again because it absolutely disturbed me as a little kid. Then I'd run back and grab it and play a little more. Been waiting for this for absolutely years.

skill system has turned out to be pretty cool.
Really? It seemed kind of limited in the beta, but i wasn't sure if that was because of the beta,
or more shit getting unlocked at a higher level or w/e. I'm sure blizzard won't disappoint me with this.
this.

i think it's ridiculous that you're chained to their servers when you just wanna play some fucking single player. want to play... CANT cause OH LOL SERVERS ARE DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE
that being said, it's pretty fun
but still pisses me off. ridiculous

From this description i think you'd love it man. And the point of playing with people is that the enemies are much harder, but they have higher drop rates for the rare items they drop.

One thing I don't grasp is what is the longevity to this game? Surely once you've hit max level and done all levels a billion times, thats it...of course you could role another class but there is only 5.
I don't see how people have played the previous titles for years?

So this is totally about drops, completely?
Whats the point in having drops if it is pointless using them as you've already done all the games content?
