So I mean particular mixes which provide a background to dubstep - ie latter-day / dark garage, instrumental grime (like Kode9, Youngsta, Hatcha and Plastician would frequently mix with the early dubstep)...
Yeah I was just wondering the other day if there's an archive of old grime mixes anywhere. It would be cool to have grime stuff up there too.
I would put Dubstep Warz as more or less the cutoff for classic mixes.
What about recent mixes of classic tunes? There's all those "Roots of ..." mixes, Youngsta's old school sets from last year (one of them had the longest bit of Midnight that I've heard), Blackdown's FACT mix

the wiggle baron wrote:Just my opinion, and its only a 2 cents really as I havent got anything to do with this, but I dont think it should include recent or non dubstep mixes. Theres a million places (or just...google) you can go to to listen to good mixes by good artists. Would just make this project a small version of what everyone can find anyway. If it was to be a nostalgic barefiles reminisce it should be just all those classic mixes that defined dubstep for years. Ive got a load of mixes from 2006 or so that I remember absoloutely sessioning back then. Where you know exactly what the next tunes going to be and when its going to get dropped. The kind of mixes that make tunes on their own sound wrong when they dont mix into whatever is next on the mix where you first heard it!
Mine thoughts yah!
only just seen the thread and wiggle has saved me a bit of typing. definitely all about the classics - would love to get the ntype show on the night after 2nd bday. Will see if I can get my old comp working might have some treats on there.
