if you were to make a send track with a eq before and bitcrusher, it would just be dupliacte playing over the original soundill mindset wrote:
I think thats when splitting frequencies and multiband compression comes in. Camel Phat is very useful for this.

that's for the whole mix?Marzz wrote:It gives a crystal clear sound. Camo and Krooked talked about it in an interview.VirtualMark wrote:I don't get it? Their studio is gonna be sickkkkkk"When music is louder, it gets dull." - Camo and KrookedThey didn't talk about it that much."a higher loudness level can be achieved through limiting, an art Noisia has mastered to perfection. They will put distortion/bitcrushing on frequencies between 4kHz and 16kHz and therefore have a crystal clear sound that will not harm your ears. Transients, though, will clearly be percieved." - Camo and Krooked
could do the ol' phase invert freq split trick, for people without multiband distortion plugs... might even be better depending on how they split frequencies.

I like a few Billain tracks and his intro atmospheres are pretty sick, but to be honest sometimes it sounds like he's grabbed a bunch of random foley samples and chucked Vocodex on the master. Always sounds really plastic.wub wrote:wormcode wrote:I think Billain has far surpassed them in sound design![]()
If I want to listen to batshit crazy neuro tunes, it'll either be Billain or (more often) anything on NeoSignal.
All the Noisia fanboys going apeshit about this video are just idiots. "ZOMG DEY SAYZ HOW 2 MAEK DIPLODICUS BASE??!!??" has been over my Twitter feed since this got announced.

i honestly think hes not at the same level yet, of course hes ultra good in sound design maybe even better than noisia but noisia delivered good and diverse tunes over such a long time now. phace on the other hand is a god haha. btw does anybody know what the other part of the original phace is up to nowadays?JaceWzu wrote:I like a few Billain tracks and his intro atmospheres are pretty sick, but to be honest sometimes it sounds like he's grabbed a bunch of random foley samples and chucked Vocodex on the master. Re: Noisia Future Music Video Coming Soon!
So, does anyone know any more about this? What is bitcrushing your drums going to achieve? And by bitcrushing, do they mean sample rate reduction, or bit depth?JTMMusicuk wrote:RandoRando wrote:not without messing up the master with eq.moot0ne wrote:Could you bus them somehow?RandoRando wrote:how do you put bitcrushers only at certain frequencies?

Either way, i don't really get what it's supposed to achieve?

Re: Noisia Future Music Video Coming Soon!
what camo crooked guys really say is that noisia seem to distort or bitcrush the area between 4000 -16000 hertz. so that it still is crystal clear but not piercing to the ears. i asume its the method of brostep with white noise but in a more human way . maybe even used instead or in connection with a deesser

Re: Noisia Future Music Video Coming Soon!
Thanks for the explanation, but i still don't get it. I've seen the video, but what i don't understand is how it would work.BudSpencertron wrote:what camo crooked guys really say is that noisia seem to distort or bitcrush the area between 4000 -16000 hertz. so that it still is crystal clear but not piercing to the ears. i asume its the method of brostep with white noise but in a more human way . maybe even used instead or in connection with a deesser
Sample rate reduction just causes aliasing, so that wouldn't be good.
And reducing the bit depth reduces the dynamic range and brings the noise floor up. I don't understand how this would make anything clearer.
TBH i'm wondering if the video wasn't translated 100%, i'm not sure about this tip at all. They might have meant saturation or limiting instead, but i might be wrong.

Re: Noisia Future Music Video Coming Soon!
haha nono i am german thats prettymuch what they said
hm in context their goal is to reach a very loud still not sharp mix for big clubs i guess its not intended for homelistening experience. i think its a trick the ear into hearing sth that isnt there anymore idea. they want to have a clear high area with no sharp edges that can be raised in volume as high as possible

Been watching this on and off all afternoon... not really impressed tbh.mthrfnk wrote:Arrived through my letterbox this morning, just started the video
I think they're using a track from the Devil May Cry soundtrack as their demo.
Mostly the only things they've covered (I'm 2/3 of the way through) are how they use Superior Drummer and split their drums up and using their collection of FX/bass samples. For example there was a really cool set of sounds at the drop, and to explain it they didn't show the synthesis, just gave a 30 second overview and explained how they dealt with Kontakt samples to add stuff in.
