Good point, well made. Didn't specify what part of the body. And organs would make the obvious choice once the decision had been made.

TBH if you're got the body to a stage where you can get at the bone marrow, extracting it might not be much of a challenge at that point.

I don't think this situation could arise. I'd eat grass or soil or something

Assuming you're somewhere with easy access to grass/soil, obviously.

Who would you rather be stranded in the wilds with, Ray Mears or Bear Grillis?

Depends which wilds.
The New Forest - Ray Mears
Anywhere else - Bear Grillis

Bear, no question. Ray's face annoys me.

Yeah, if it was sea I'd catch a fish, or if I was in space I'd probably just die, I don't think many people could bring themselves to eat a person. Especially kill to eat. And if he/shje was dead. You're probably better off not eating it anyway

It's all needs must TBH, but I see your view. Don't agree with the not eating altogether option though.

Ray Mears is the boy! Bear Grills can fuck right off, I'd rather chill with Ray doing some sweet bushcraft, trapping small mammals for dinner and building a proper decent hut than drinking my own piss and wearing whale guts with Bear, fuck that
Bear = How to survive
Ray = How to survive in comfort and style

In a situation where your life is threatned and this situation wasn't created by you and it isn't your duty to do anything about it, the sacrifice of someone's rights in order to protect yours is justified. If you and your partner get stuck inside a cave after a landslide, it's not a crime to murder him and eat him if that's the only food source available. He won't be seem as a criminal if he does the same to you. I believe your law system calls it "Necessity".
tl;dr I'd eat a person if that was the only way.

It wouldn't have to be a necessity, as long as I'm confident I won't get caught

Nah - You'd still be considered a monster...
The appropriate thing to do is wait till one or the other dies - and then with the decessed blessing - you or they may survive.
In fact - to introduce violence in such a desperate situation is fully diabolical.

R v Dudley and Stephens (1884) 14 QBD 273 DC is a leading English criminal case which established a precedent, throughout the common law world, that necessity is
no defence to a charge of murder.

Skinny person killing the fat man is also a violation in survival of the fittest -- in this remarkable turn of natural selection.

Different law systems (civil law here), we don't have that much flexibility. If any crime was comitted under a state of necessity and your acts were reasonable, there's no illicitness and therefore no crime, that's how the penal law codex sees it and no judge can judge against it. Differences like that make me want to take a semester on a common law school, so much to learn.
