By your logic we should be overly nice to every girl that comes on here, why?Turnipish Thoughts wrote:I think this thread has scared her off. You wonder why there aren't many female producers? Because the current production culture is full of 17 year old 'l33t bedroom producers' that can't handle the idea of someone with boobies and long hair doing something they like... ever noticed how 99% of the male population reacts to female gamers?
It's both amusing and depressing to be aware of just how predictably moronic my gender can be... This thread being testament to a complete derail into what 'green text' is, spotted intermittently with allusions to the notability of the OPs gender...
Like I said, white knights. Nothing more pitiful than male feminists putting it up on a pedestal. It's still sexism if you think someone should be treated like a goddess just because they're rife with estrogen and lip gloss.SunkLo wrote:![]()

Why's this thread been necroed? Anyway, tbh my mini rant was fueled by shit not entirely connected to this thread at all. It came form me generally getting pissed at the overwhelming response my girl gets when playing online games where without fail within 5 minutes of someone finding out she's a girl starts acting like a total goof and chatting her up and shit while I'm sat next to her (we live together) hearing it all over the mic. Because this happens so often I've basically developed a bit of a complex towards certain online communities that do genuinely seem to be filled with a certain type of bloke that completely freaks out when they find out a girl is in the midst. Because of that basic predisposition of mine, I saw what I thought was the same shit in here and ranted off a little without really thinking about it.Widowmaker wrote: By your logic we should be overly nice to every girl that comes on here, why?
Women want to be treated equally to Men right? Well if some idiot came on here asking idiot questions, i would treat them like an idiot regardless of gender.
The worst thing is when you see beggy guys trying to friendzone/nice their way in to women and treat them like godesses hoping they would give them a shred of attention..
I'm not saying OP is an idiot, just that if it was a 14 year old boy this thread would've gone the exact same way. Just cos' she's a girl and can't google or use a search bar we have to give her special treatment? lol i learn't almost everything from googling shit and searching this forum.. if you don't have the drive to even do that and want everything handed on a plate you don't deserve to produce music.
Case in point? The two replies both involve some kinda sexual connotation, who's on about getting laid or trying to fawn attention (I mean how did you even get to that) except the people flaming me for pointing out the exact kinda mentality that's being expressed by the very people flaming me for pointing that shit out... It's never my intention to get in to debates, but some people sure do have one track minds.SunkLo wrote:... Besides it's not like you're gonna get laid for recommending a good synth to a girl over the internet.![]()

How many views do you think i would get on my tune if i created another DSF profile with a girl avatar and my tune in the sig, and posted up a "please help me xxxx" as a new topic.SunkLo wrote:Short answer: yes.outdropt wrote:Can i get special attention now to0o0o0![]()

It's true and I agree you shouldn't generalize people. And that's kinda true here too. It's also a generalization to think someones acting differently than they normally would by seemingly going out of their way to be overly helpful to someone based on gender. My original long post was no longer than a post I would have written out to a newbie looking for help regardless of gender, take a look at some of the utter essays I've written in past posts to all manner of people and you'll see that I'm actually just that helpful sometimes. And yeah then my second post about the whole "why are people acting weird cuz she's a girl" thing has been explained too. I suppose we're all guilty of generalizing sometimes. I guess I'm going on about it because I feel like my character has been judged wrongly and I don't like the idea that I've come across as a bit of a prune to someone; basic ego shit I suppose.SunkLo wrote:I wasn't targeting that directly at you. Just saying "OMG it's a girl on the internet, I'd better be super sweet to her and defend her and make her like me!" or "OMG it's a girl on the internet, let's ask about her boobs!" are both equally immature. Altering your behavior significantly in either direction just because of a female is a beta move. Treat em like a regular person, cause you're not gonna get laid on the internet either way. That was the point I was trying to make.
As for the video game community, they're not really known for being at the top of the intellectual gene pool. It's usually 15 year old trolls who've only ever seen the side of a breast at the community center swimming pool. Most of them would be too intimidated to even talk to a girl in real life, let alone repeat the things they say online. Can't judge the whole male gender based upon an incredibly immature sample.

hey babe
Yeah I feel you on all accounts. I write essays too. I always just reduce all my generalizations to dumb humans. A dumb human will always fuck shit up regardless of gender, race, occupation, age, etc. Goddamn dumb humans man.Turnipish Thoughts wrote:It's true and I agree you shouldn't generalize people. And yeah I agree that you can't judge an entire gender based on a small, pretty biased sample but then again, it's not just on-line gaming communities that objectify women and by association piss me off because I'm basically pretty tired of blokes hitting on my girl, whether that's on games, or on the net in general; something that doesn't really happen in real life as much as it does on-line, which as this is an on-line community, and if some characters on this board, and certain popular threads on SNH are anything to go by, is still relevant on this here specific on-line community too. So I'm not totally derped in my opinions either way.
We've all been through that phase of seeing girls in that way. It's fucking natural when you're a single guy with nothing to loose, and yeah when I was 15 or so I' was definitely in the same boat but then you grow up, settle down and fall into the hypocrisy of ranting off at the exact kinda people you used to associate with. It's just some blokes never find that long term thing and you end up getting grown up men that still see women as a collection of tits ass and thighs, and it's basically annoying to here some dick smarming up to your special someone and know exactly where his heads at, little outbursts like I was foolish enough to drop in this thread are just extensions of that really. But still, no harm done I suppose; it's the internet, people generally equate to dicks anyway.
