Turn the fucking knobs around and see how it effects the sound, eventually you'll know what does what.. It's literally the easiest way to do it.
Nothing wrong with presets, but in 3 years you should of done more than that bro.. But to each their own.
This thread is kind of pointless.. If you want to learn something, do it.. There's no magic recipe.. We're not fucking geniuses, just people clicking buttons.

Not exactly.
IMHO, Learning synthesis is a combination of both self-experimentation (which includes the 'reverse engineering' people refer to) and actual studying (which includes browsing forums, reading manuals, tutorials, etc.)
There are things you can easily stumble upon/figure out yourself, and there are just some things you need to be informed of.
Never limit yourself intentionally.

Nah read about what you're doing and you'll understand it better. Not saying you couldn't learn just by experimenting but if you actually know what it's doing when you twist a knob you'll have a better idea of how to create the sound you're trying to make.

Understanding what you're doing makes it easier to transfer knowledge to another synth, instead of thinking "omg shit wheres the knob that I use to make my bass yoy in Massive in this new synth arghhhh?!". However there's obviously nothing wrong with twiting every knob and pushing every button under the sun to see what everything does.

I did a 3 hr long class on modulation avail here http://www.massivesynth.com/Modulation/
And recently got commissioned by the same site to do a filter tutorial in the same vein (think it clocked in at around 2 hours) which isn't up yet, but in his hands to put up whenever.
Same site should also have a routing vid I did, but I think it's only available to subscribers.
Understanding NI Massive Tutorials (covering every function)

Hi folks, I'm kind of a newbie around this forum however I've made 15 tutorials based on basic knowledge & understanding of NI massive on my new YouTube channel for those that want to know what every parameter/function does.
When i create wobble sound in massive and i just turn off osc and turn it on right back, it sounds differently. Why? Does it have something with phasing?
Just watched one and it was great, going to watch all of them right now, please do more plugins (Sylenth, Absynth, Nexus, Zeta+, etc). In my opinion you could make a business out of this type of thing. I'll admit I'm fresh into producing, started on new years day and I'm not falling off. I've literally been raping the internet for tutorials, I've downloaded hundreds of books, I have a signed producer who's making me his protege but tutorial wise, I have not seen anything this comprehensive this far. Subscribed and if you need anything else hit me up.
