Yes it would be built into the gun but not linked to any any server or anything (for privacy issues). Obviously it isn't foolproof but I like the idea of being the only one able to use my gun. Or you could program the gun to alow other people you trust to use your gun. For example your wife or brother but yet your kids wouldn't be able to use it.

There's never going to be any piece of legislation that will make everyone happy even so with a widely controversial topic like gun control. I think that the positives of having IDed weapons would outweigh the negatives. With years of refinement and thousands of intelligent people working towards the common goal of combining guns and ID technology, I think it would be much better than the system we have in place currently.

because you said that you think guns should be able to id mental unstable people by there finger print, do you think people's finger prints jet come out of thin air? by your plan there would need to be a database of the finger prints of mentally unstable people...great fucking idea

That wouldn't be much different than now but no I don't think that. I think that when you would purchase a gun and after background checks etc. you would get the gun personalized for you, doesn't have to be fingerprints just some way that would prevent others from using your gun.

No I'm not and I'm also not very familiar gun laws in Switzerland so I can't use this as a reference point in my arguments.

I don't think theres ever going to be a way to prevent murders unless something like in the movie "minority report" every comes around. I'm just trying to think of ways to prevent dozens of children being killed by people affected with brain conditions.

In fairness, that didn't really help in Vietnam or Afghanistan (against the Soviets or Today). History is littered with massively underarmed peoples overcoming armies with technologically superior weapons. Not like the US is lacking in numbers of people with guns, either.
