T_! wrote:out to everyone with their opinions, you're entitled to them, but alot of people worked f**king hard the last year, (and years before that; but for the sake of the 2013 awards we'll say the last year), so ease up on the discrediting... talk about something positive to do with the awards, alot of posts in this thread are on a negative slant from the offset...
Big up all still putting back into this sound...
thx garethom and T_! for saying what I wanted to say

Moaning about it is silly as its you lot who picked the nominations. Just vote for whoever you think deserves it tbh

Or not at all if you're that bothered. Don't really see the need for incessant moaning and negativity. A lot of the artists in here are just people, like you and me, making tunes because its what they love doing.
I also hate the "dungeon", it's all just dubstep to me.
I think the nominations in almost every category are some of the best we've ever seen. Focused on sub bass, as dubstep should be. Varied with lots of talent. It's an honor to even be mentioned next to these guys.

TopManLurka, you say you're clued up on the scene but have never heard of Innamind...that makes you NOT clued up you neg lmfao.
There is a Quantum Soul remix of a Lamb tune forthcoming, gonna be huge, but you won't know a thing about it cause you've never heard of Innamind :p

Can't see how you can complain about a lack of versatility or interchangable sounds and then pack people for voting for Mala & Kahn in the same post.
Last year, Kahn was involved with a straight up dub tune (Find Jah Way), a dancehall tune (Backchat), straight up dubstep (Dread, etc.), garage (Margeaux), old school grime (Percy) and put out a mixtape of classic grime sets (Gorgon Grime). There is arguably NO other producer that covers as many bases as he does at the highest level. That's why he got my vote.
Thanks bro!
Yeah Kahn deserves a the acclaim, especially seeing as his first proper release was only in 2011 as well. He gets a lot of rimming round here which might put some people off but its deserved imo

Huge thanks to everyone who nominated Hedmuk in the awards: really is so humbling to be there, since this is after all entirely democratic.
My two cents would be that the nominees this year are the strongest there has been in the last few years, with a really broad and varied representation of the sound across the spectrum.
Of course there are people missing, as there always will be, but that they're notable by their absence (I'm thinking of some of the names mentioned already, like Beneath and Innamind) says a lot too.

Where have you seen hate? I've not really seen anybody full on packing it, just people like me saying "It's not my sort of thing" and most people proclaiming it to be the best thing ever.
Is that hate? I don't hate it, it's perfectly listenable, I just don't like it.

Pretty much all those in the category from last years new producer nominations have done fantastic this year, can see the ones in this years doing even better!
Remix section from last year was ridiculous.

i hear what you are saying, i just think it's sad that a lot of great djs who take the time to make their sets dynamic and interesting while showing us something new and exciting never make the cut because it's youngsta again. think it should be like DMC, you can only win so many times before its time to let someone else have some glory

Agreed,
for me it was between Joe Nice and Youngsta, I only saw Joe once live (smashed it) and Youngsta 3 times if I recall correctly but Youngsta really was

(system, oldschool tempa set, normal set)
find myself listening less and less to his show tho and would rate Joe Nices show much higher for the above mentionned "critique"

Why all the moaning? Is it really that serious?
I'm sure 99% of the nominees don't do what they do for online awards.
A lot of you people really need to get a life away from a computer

who exactly is moaning m8? apart from the guy banging on about inamind?
people itt have either discussed who they voted for or are discussing how the sound has changed from viewing the nominees. 0% negativity.
only guys i see moaning are the moaners moaning about people who are apparently moaning.

it's a discussion board. before you log on, come to terms with the fact that you will be seeing people discuss music and anything related to music. It's kind of what we log on to do.
