But you might have a fair point in saying that class difference is more important, still. I have the same issue when people talk animal welfare in a point in time where actual humans are getting hurt continuously and we have limited means.

I find it interesting to mention sports - because in my opinion the whole concept of sport is masculine...
Not saying woman can't or shouldn't do it...
Not saying they don't enjoy it...
But competition to me isn't feminine - co-operation and sharing would be...

How exactly can you have competition if the goal of it is not to establish some kind of victor? Even in your example, the objective is to see who sails the furthest. Is the team that sails furthest supposed to be beaten up afterwards? Or perhaps a speeding tax? What is your rationale here?
Competition is something that occurs whenever more than one person desires a particular resource. Competition, by definition, itself means that there are losers...
Think about it on the most fundamental level, there is a reason women wear make-up and by cute clothes, and will even come to blows over a man. It's competition.
Do you simply deny the other half of the Olympics? What about Soft-ball and Field-hockey? And all the other competitive sports with Female athletes?
In fact, at my last school, there was a girl on the varsity American Football team.

You seem to have missed the fact that the reason people didn't do things like that has nothing to do with "manliness" and all to do with convenience.
The roads came before the trucks. Do you expect that we then go and re-design every road on earth? That's illogical and impracticable. Even tools, the reason those weren't developed that way is because of the fact that the technology needed to do so didn't, and in many cases still doesn't, exist.

If men designed the world for men and wanted to keep women where they supposedly thought they belonged, in the kitchen and at home all day taking care of the household, they wouldn't have designed machines and appliances that enabled them to spend less time at home and more time out, for example working jobs. And then they wouldn't have developed birth control pills. There would be no daycare centers either.

really interesting thread, been a good read so far, heres my 2 pence for what its worth-

Equality for me is when the best person succeeds in any given field and nobody considers anything other than how capable they are. It is a little bit idealistic, but if I was in a job where other people's performances directly affected me in any way, I couldn't give two fucks what gender race or class the other people are, so long as they're the best for the job. However, I do think it's important to empower women to believe they can do anything they believe they are capable of, as an example, the best undiscovered scientist on the planet right now might be a woman, but she just might not think its possible to go out and achieve her potential. Apologies for my ham-fisted way of explaining what I think, hope I made sense.
