As I said earlier, DJahsta uses a Kaossolator pad to filter his basses.

Yes, i remember you said that but after checking it out before and now again, i doubt thats what gets his signature bass. You still have to sample it, apply filters, and modulate. Youre basically doing that by hand instead of using automation to lets say more a LP filter. Doesnt seem like there anything that will change a sound so much with the kaos filter, when you can basically do everything inside youre standard daw.
Its just a prefrence he likes to do with his sounds i guess, maybe its faster or just likes the workflow. The thing is cool but seems way better to be used in a live setting.
But if you said he was using sherman filterbank, then thats another story.

A delay or flanger is more efficient for the metalic sound than a comb filter imo

Hi everyone, somewhere i red that D-Jahsta uses Ableton's Operator to make his basses. I think that is possibile to achieve these sound in Massive, FM8, Operator and Sylenth 1. The matter is obviously HOW.
1. About the effects small amount of reverb, delay and flanger could help to improve the effect.
2. May be a LP filter attached to an LFO with some resonance helps to add that "metallic" plucky sound.
3. Pitch envelope applied to the LFO??
Anyone have some ideas about waveforms and envelopes??
I personally think i got more of a Cyberoptics sound but check out this new synth i made.
Lemme know what you think. Soundcloud

I'm not really sure what he does with them, but I am friends with Cyberoptics and he came over and saw my room mates Kaoss pads and said "D-Jahsta runs his basslines through one of those." and then I met D at a show and asked him and he confirmed it. Didn't really ask what he does though

But yeah, whatever he does through them can certainly be done in another vst, he might just like the way he can control it with his finger swipes or something. And I'm not sure about D-Jahsta using Operator, since him and Cyberoptics have done so many collabs and he uses FL and Massive.

I have a question, that would solve my bass problems for the rest of my life. The basses in Datsik's "Gecko". Literally any of them. I made one just like one of the basses by mistake, but the one I'm really trying to nail is the at :58. That bass drives me nuts, and I might as well be desperate to find out.
