well what i was trying to say is that those video game sounds are kind of played out and so i dont really use them.. i only ever used them in one tune and they fucking put that one on the page lol

and the thing about goldie, yeah i was trying to sound like that when i was 15 but not now obviously, that was 18 years ago

but yeah im switching to a mostly hardware setup and im quite excited about it

The past few weeks i have been going a bit mental on ebay

Got an Ensoniq EPS 16 sampler. It has 8 outputs. I was gonna get an AKAI S950 but i heard this one has even more grit on drums than the akai even though it is 16 bit. I listened to some comparisons and i found that was the case. Rza used this sampler on 36 Chambers thats all i really needed to hear. Autechre also used it to great effect. Has some nice dirty sounding built in effects too and you can use it as an effects processor by passing a line signal through the input without sampling.

bought a bunch of old effects units like 12 bit reverbs and stuff.. this shit is so cheap these days its ridiculous. I need to stop bidding on stuff ffs.

I will probably get some hardware sequencers at some point but right now i think i am going to stick with Ableton as a sequencer because i still want to use VSTs for synths and some other stuff. I have been looking at some though like the MMT-8 which i remember reading years ago orbital used in their live show. I think if i used this kind of thing it would be mainly for live performance too.

I am still deciding how i will go about working with this stuff because there are a few ways to go about it. I just need to experiment and see what works best.

My mixing desk should be arriving later this week so that's when the fun really starts. It's a 16 channel 8 bus mixer but you can use like 32 inputs on mixdown (16 of the inputs bypass the EQ and fader sections and are routed directly to the stereo master bus or maybe the group bus that that particular channel is in, im not sure yet).

THere is great debate as to whether analog summing sounds better than in the box summing (as with vst synths vs hardware) but i just like the idea of using a real mixer again, im sick of clicking on little pictures of knobs and faders on a screen.
