When I was young I chipped a tooth. They glued it back on and it was fine until a few years ago when it randomly broke again after being on there for at least a decade. They glued it on again, fell back off within a week. Tried AGAIN and it fell off later that day. Then they were like okay we fucked up so we're gonna just go with a crown (or whatever it's called) and since we fucked up we're gonna whiten your teeth for free.
They would have whitened my teeth regardless since the crown was slightly whiter than the rest of my teeth, but since they billed me for the gluing and that didn't work they did the whitening for free.

Pedro, isn't getting it capped again every few years because of the coloring as well?
I have a permanent cap.
Nah, it's on a front tooth so it just wears down (doest help that I use a bicarbonate soda toothpaste), the dentist has to use the correct filling colour that matches your tooth's natural colour, once it's done, it is unrecognisable.
You should visit my dentist some day

Whitening treatments are also more likely to weaken teeth in the long run anyway.
But say your teeth are stained from drinks or cigarettes, you could get them whitened to the natural shade. Or is that called something other than whitening? Brightening perhaps.
The problem I have with whitening treatments is that I believe they will strip away some enamel regardless of how careful they are. It just doesn't seem like a good idea.
Probably best to cut down on smoking

^not if they're "painting" a white layer onto your tooth which is how some whitening treatments are done. but yeh whenever i've used whitening toothpaste in the past my teeth always felt raw as fuck as if the toothpaste was acidic and was burning the outer layer off your teeth
