dubstep is dubstep.........where did the 4x4 concept come in2 it???

cant people just leave things as they are?

look at grime and how that got magled....

"grindie"
"rhythm & grime"
"g-hop"

^^^those are just a few examples......dont let dubstep go down that route of other ppl coming up with stupid concepts like the 1s ive just mentioned.

grindie doesnt actually exist appart from a handful of statik's remixes, some of which i think are great

rng in my opinion was mostly heavy if occasionaly totally wet. but when therss both girls and boys on a track that works wonders!

ghop can fuck right off tho

sometimes i reckon having too many different names, specifications and 'genres' can just get in the way of the music

grindie is something that Statik invented when he rimexed a few tunes by bands like Test Icicles and Bloc Party. The thing is it doesnt sound like a crossover of styles really, they just sound like Statik tunes. If you like Statik and I do, then yr laughing really as it means more of his tunes are out there.
He then did a mixtape also called Grindie where he mixed grime with various guitar music... it sort of worked in places and didnt work in others but it was funny

SPOOKY, calling it 4x4 Dubstep is not a stupid concept, it's describing exactly what it is: Dubstep with a 4x4 beat.

yeh im fine with dubstep being 4/4, think it can make a nice change from half step etc, and i like experimentation as it can only lead to progression and take us further fwd>> , however i might be completely getting the wrong end of the stick but calling the music '4/4 dubstep' as a genre name i do not agree with

Innit C4 we certainly dont need to start splitting dubstep into subgenres such as 4x4step, inteligentstep and all all that bollox like drum and bass did with clownstep, techstep etc... Dubstep is dubstep and thats that.

even when you talk to people who don't know about this scene and you mention the word 'dubstep' you quite often get a bit of an arched eyebrow and you can see them thinking 'what sort of spurious new pseudo-genre is he on about now'? if you think about it objectively it can sound like a joke.

I think the dubstep and digidub thing has been covered in another thread, but i think there is a danger of 4x4 dubstep ending up sounding like steppas dub, which isn't particularly innovative, i appreciate the tracks that are out there, but there needs to be a wide variety to keep things interesting, couldnt do a whole set of 4x4 dubstep...

just my 2cents...
