ok ive got a question ive been too scared to ask.
whats the score with QUARTZ LOCK? i hear people mix with both decks set to it. how do you mix without changing the speed? or have i got it wrong somwhere.

my mates got some numark decks with something that sounds like this. he said u set the lock and you can change the speed without affecting what the melody sounds like or something like that, didnt quite understand tbh

I'm curious to know if producers like skream/Burial/kode9 etc mix and master their own tunes or whether they go to other engineers/studios for this?

lol.. i think i beat power puff jungle girl.. unless she also listens to the house during the day..

You can get some decks with digital outputs that can do this sort of thing. They just run a bunch of algorithms on the sound before sending it to the mixer on line level connections. Quartz Lock and the like tends to sound pretty sketchy in my experience, though if you're not pitching the record up or down too much it's ok. Good for all the key mixers out there I guess.

I THINK i remember someone, could of been Skream, saying one reason he likes getting dubplates cut is the mastering process needed to squeeze a track onto vinyl finishing the sound of the track. So someone at Transition is turning the dials.
(You should never master a track before going to vinyl as the cutting boys will need as much scope to compress/Eq your shit to get it sounding good on plastic)
