unless i'm just completely oblivious to it i don't think we really get 'ravers' like that in the uk anyway

i dunno about you guys but everyone i know that enjoys this are basically ex entry level dubstep/dnb kids who grew up and act like they're super into house now or student night types

if it was dusky, huxley, gorgon city, route 94, applebottom style music then id agree. i think youre confusing it with that kind of music

the only nights ive heard this at have been in london at clubs where i was probably one of the few students there

it is pretty bait. but in the same way that funky or garage was bait. loads of people are listening to it.
but like everything at a glance its bait have a listen, around and put some effor tinto finding stuff and it becomes a lot less bait

I don't wanna come across like I'm just shitting on what others have said here, but I like to think I'm pretty well informed and listen a wide ass range of music, but this just sounds like the same sort of house that has been around for donkey's years. Honestly, I don't think the sounds being used are varied enough to warrant being described as a whole new thing.

Also, in the tunes I've picked out from this thread to listen to, I'm struggling to get any grime or bassline influence, and I'm a fucking bassline expert.

it sounds like it's mainly a more recent change in demographics which could be valid in different ways i guess

yeah thats kind of what im getting at.
different people from different musical backgrounds involved in a scene that might go somewhere interesting.
im trying to make the distinction between people involved in this and the people involved in your average student tech house night playing the same tunes over and over.
and for that reason why its interesting

as for the grime and bassline influences. its more that its a rough and low tech sound and that aesthetic is similar to grime and baslline not that its directly influenced. its definitely influenced by jacking house tho and thats definitely influenced by grime and bassline so i dont know

i like one or two tunes. its really fun to dance to. theres a lot of energy about it with people starting up labels and nights around it. theres definitely a tight community that are part of this scene, sharing music playing eachothers tunes.
all the things needed to start an interesting musical movement. its not there yet but it might develop that way

lol no just having a conversation. tbh i think ive defended a group of producers, djs and labels too much. just got irritated by the disparaging dismissiveness of some people because its not proper house or techno.

and yeah about the champion thing. maybe it is but thats kind of my point. its just a little bit different. hopefully it gets a lot more different

Also I just went through the article from the start. Almost all of it sounds the same and it's all really plastic sounding. Super boring. Bit lost as to what people are seeing in this. It sounds like it could have been all made by the same producer.
