tell that to durrty goodz man.

the only reason there's less focus on grime is cos even the producers and mc's are movin to dubstep. it aint a bad thing cos the hybrid comin out is insane, but still..

I like the tune, Wiley is a fucking don. He's done alot for Uk music... I wouldn't call him a sell out.

The only reason he didn't do the video shoot is becuase he thought the concept with foxes was super wack.

BUT rolex sweep is jus a cheap knock off, and its a shit song musically, and to top it off the dance is jus pie. :|
wearing my rolex is pretty much a cheap knock off of that bodyrox tune anyway. i reckon the beat for rolex sweep is better than the one for wearing my rolex though, and i definitely dont see how it has less value musically
the lyrics are jus shit, ders no energy in it. i find it a dead tune still.

both beats dont really appeal to me much, and ye they are knock offs but i herd der sampling an older tune, cant remember the name....

the only reason i rate wearing my rolex is because it does what it was made to do and its above a certain low point of energy, it works in clubs.

with the current state grime is in i dont blame him, it needs sum sorta rocket boosting so it can build itself back to its true nature.
i don't think grime's in a bad state at all... the level of the younger MCs is stupidly high and there's nuff quality music being made. just need MORE RAVES!
ye the youngers are sick, but the older generation has kinda fell off...

way too much emphasis on the hip hop style (i.e scorcher and wretch, etc)

but that said the grime artists who have hip hop flows like meridian and roadside g's sumtimes, der music to me is wat UK HIP HOP SHOULD be, that side of "grime" shud jus be fused wid uk hip hop.

as for grime as close to its nature, the younger generation and a few others are still keepin the flame going, and dats good, it has hope.

but without raves, too many bootleggers, small vinyl scene.....its no suprise there off makin t-shirts and commercial tunes to bring money in, they obviously need money otherwise they would be focusing more on the core stuff.

with more money comin in they can expand the underground init, thats the end goal i think. and as its not at that level yet, thats wot i meant by sayin "the state grime is in now"

He didn't know about the Foxy theme until he got there, then he ducked out.

That's what he's like... and in my opinion he coulda been bigger than Dizzee but because of his randomness he hasn't gone down some of the routes he should have.

Sorry, but did I miss something there?

You have no reservations about decrying the tune as 'complete garbage', but have been 'supporting' this tune since day one. You must have a pretty interesting criteria for selecting tunes there.

'Yeah bruv, I only play rubbish these days, nothing but the worst utter gashment. Standard.'

???
This forum really has its fair share of nincompoops doesn't it..

Before trying to get clever, read the paragraph in its entirety and in the context of the rest of the post. It went like this..
felixGash wrote:But no, in all honestly this tune is complete, pop garbage.. but, at the same time, it's the biggest tune he's ever made in my opinion. It has more commercial appeal than anything else coming out of the entire 'Garage umbrella' scene (UKG, Bassline, Dub, Grime..) and is sure to go top 10. Pretty bored of it now to be honest, been supporting this one since getting sent the CD a couple months back, but I'll still drop it out and it'll still go off.
The word "pop" before "garbage" was key - I'm not saying this tune is "complete garbage", as you so astutely observed, but "complete pop garbage". Compared to the half-decent, underground bits Wiley's put out over the years 'Rolex' is "pop", and I consider generally consider "pop" music to be garbage - with a fair few exceptions, of course.

Brush up on your syntactical analysis before you get fresh, son.

And even if I thought 'Wearing My Rolex' was crap, as a working DJ I'd happily play it because (as I also said, which you missed first time round) "it has more commercial appeal than anything else coming out of the scene at moment". When I'm mixing at home I'll happily play a bit of 'Oskilatah', bit of '50,000 Watts'.. maybe even dig out the old Ghost eps. But when I'm playing to a packed bar on a Friday night, NOT full of forum geeks but regular club goers, I think they'd probably appreciate a bit of Rolex over the latter mentioned riddims, init blad?

Concentrate on upping your own game and not nit picking, and failing, on the forum.
