any visual art is about a lot more than just accuracy
eg. picasso has had a lot more influence on the (art)world than any photorealist - his most famous works were far from straightforward figurative renderings tho
graffiti is no different
it takes skill to reproduce an image but another kind of skill entirely to create something interesting and individual from a 2 colour oneliner
pure photorealism has no identity, its scientific, quantifiable and hardly creative, which in my eyes is pretty boring rly
the best writers have the skill to do realism, but dont!
I hear ya but if you don't do it then maybe you cant. Picasso and Dali in particular could. The measure of them was that they could but didn't.
I got mates who got character skills and letter styles for daze but cant do a photorealistic face or hands. Shading a human face and contouring hands is entirely different to a standard drop shadow.

to me graff is all about using your imagination to create something, not copy a photograph on a bigger scale with spray paint, thats just 'spraycan art', nothing graffiti about it.

personalize your area, do what when and how you want, without any commercial interests (and no need for applause),
something thats totally uncalled for... great also to find your way in a city you doesent know, surprise-art (e.g. when the train rolls into the station

, to feel free, rape the grey before you're sick of it... quicksilver or colors!
you can help to improve your area right now!!

Fixed
I personally believe that Graffiti is and always has been based on letters and style and how letters are joined together/how they flow above anything else easily.

call me a doyle if im wrong but i swear alot of the pioneering graff artists didnt listen to hiphop, in other words hiphop culture assimilated graff art. from wot i heard alot of the first artists were just listening to shit like rock etc?
