That looks exactly like a Hip Hop gig to me
95% male?
95% white, 95% earth tones, 95% people with beards or shaven heads etc etc
No diss, just an observation.

hahaha.
fact is, most girls don't like good music (harsh but very true)
girls not going to dubstep gigs doesn't mean the music is any worse or that the atmosphere should suffer. if you want to pull, go to a house/breaks/rnb night.

Funniest thing about the article is trying to work out who its aimed at, Nathan Barley anyone?

The Barley wouldn't be seen dead wearing a pair of starched combat trousers and a brand new pair of Stan Smith's...sorry, must be someone else then.

Yes they have..... This is just a screen print from an electronic version that was sent to a friend. School trip said it all btw

I'm not that bothered, but it does seem like the new version of being cool by being the first person to like something is being cool by being the first person to hate it.
I mean, sure, people don't like stuff, I don't like stuff, but I don't feel the need to write elaborate putdowns to illustrate how much cleverer I am than all the people who do like it. And to be honest, people who do tend to end up just sounding like arrogant wankers.
aye i see where you are coming from, but aside from thinking its a bit tongue in cheek, its easier just to leave it rather than get riled up about it (not saying you were specifically, but some were), also i get the feeling that part of the point of it is to get people's backs up, whether you agree with that or not

havent read all replies, but i think he is trying to cause debate, hence the published email address.
However, if those are genuinely his/her views, s/he isn't what the scene wants or needs anyway or his target audience for that matter- who cares what people look like or have interests in at a dubstep rave, real enthusiasts go for the music no matter what they are like. He also treats it like a fad and just seems bitter that Birmingham missed out on the 'hype' of it or something...
Dont start to judge Birmingham and all its inhabitants by this sole article

nah i know a fair few who do listen to dubstep, just are put off going to events cause 'everyone stares at them' hahahah.
i would take notice of that article, but someone from birmingham wrote it therefore all points are immediately invalid.

Im glad this got some responses good and bad.
Regular readers of The Night Times will understand that the Savages (The clue is in the name) write a satire column each month, to provoke responses.
The paper also regularly reviews dubstep, music and events in Birmingham, as well as all music genres, and the Savages gun em all. Not everyone likes everything. (Obviously these pages were not posted up)
This seems to have riled quite a few of you. We print some replies to the Savages column, its a chance to get back at the Grumpy Old Men.
If you have something strong to say, send it to
info@thenighttimes.com, the best will be printed in the next edition out early June.
