DO NO DELETE!

I've gained so much knowledge from this forum, I think it would be a great loss... But I understand that it needs some work... Just don't get rid of it ;)

while I don't agree with "punishing" new members for asking these kinds of questions, you've got to agree that when the frontpage gets flooded with the same old threads again and again, people who might actually be interested and capable of discussing other aspects of production will lose the will to trudge through the shite to get to the more unusual threads.

if the purpose of this bit of dubstepforum was to teach people how to wobble then it would have just been a wiki...

I think the reason that the grid works the way it does is that whenever one of these basic questions is asked, they get pointed straight to the dnbwiki (actually a good resource for beginning producers)...so if anyone feels like putting the time in then stickies covering all the basics may be worth trying here.

I don't tend to post much here, but I have done when threads have interested me, and I reckon this could be good board given the fact that when an interesting subject arises, there are always people who pop out of the woodwork and add to it...

definately needs a dedicated mod imo.

the point is is that all this help is already on the forum, there is no need for more threads concerning it, if people took some time to read then they would find the answer and likley learn a lot more.

+1
Agreed. I made the production bible while stepping into synthesizing and mixdowns...
Futures untold, you're more than welcome to help me sorting it out.
Many people consider it should be improved but until today nobody offered their help.
Daft tnuc, I'm up for helping you do this. I'll PM you so we can organise that if you like?

Klimaxx offered that maybe we should have a seperate website that is a large Production Bible? There, people could find the basic production topics covered with more images etc. As mentioned by B-LAM, creating a dubstep production wiki is also a free alternative. Maybe we should work on that instead of doing loads of stickies?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my opinion, perhaps the most common unifying element of dubstep is the bass, so I feel that having an in depth article/sticky/set of links related to creating and treating bass is a priority here.

In general, I feel no threat when people genuinely ask how to make wobbles etc. I didn't know how to make a Reese recently, :o but I quickly found out using google ;) Developing such an in depth bass creation thread contained within one post would really help curb repeat bass threads. Then everyone will simply have to link to it if a repeat thread is posted and it can be allowed to die by itself.

guys, I would hold off from doing anything for the time being - we will sort out Mod status in the next few weeks, then the Production Mods will have access to a hidden forum where they can work on threads, and be able to move/edit stuff.

Give us a few weeks to mull things over and sort it out - will be worthwhile I'm sure.

Thanks to every single person for your feedback, it's good to hear everyone's perspective so that we can get a better idea of what people want from this forum. :4:

Ok, but don't delete the production sub forum because it's nang and I'll have nothing better to do :o

And sometimes I learn things here too! 8)

Yes!! A wasteman on a powertrip with way too much time on their hands is exactly what we need...

Mind you, that's the nature of most mods anyway.

So what's the deal? Daft tnuc and I are ready to get moving on some revamp work + some new stickies etc...

I'm willing to put in some hours to get things moving, but I don't want to do that if the forum is going to be pulled.... :!:

In my opinion, if some of us work together to make some good stickies, we'll be able to send n00b questions to the sticky threads and do plenty of learning in the process as we search out the info for the stickies. :)

I mean, why hang around for 3 months waiting for answers when we could just get cracking and create a better forum in the process of helping each other learn new production knowledge?

Also, is there anybody that is willing to help Daft tnuc & I in creating these new threads & searching for links for the new threads etc?

Thanks :)

---------------------------

Ps. For those people that don't find the threads in this forum interesting, either start posting some interesting topics, go make some tunes or hang out somewhere else! :|

Sheesh!

Yup, there's a march outside 10 Downing St being planned :P ;)

Me too.

I like the forum interface over the nasty GUI of The Grid & even KVR. Also, this forum is more chilled out than Studio Central which seems to be ultra serious all the time.

Simple solution - just below the DSF logo, in size 20 bold font, put:

WOBBLE = SYNC AN LFO TO BPM. SYNC A LOWPASS FILTER TO THE LFO.

This should cut down posts on this subforum by 80%

Sorry guys, gotta take time out for a while because of work... :(

I'll still try to work on that bass thread, but I'll not have it complete for a week or two at least... :(

Anyways,

Keep on it :)
