I thought the sound was pretty much spot on this time. There was some sibilance and mid-range honk on some Rhodes samples here and there but I think that was on the record, not the system. Most of the time it was staggeringly good sound, pure hifi with chest-rattling bass - almost perfect. For example Youngsta's set was incredibly clear and pure while being devastatingly deep, while the best bits of Benga's set and virtually all of Skream's set were a riot of technicolour tones - the sound was really rich. I still think this system lacks the nth degree of rounded sub-bass impact compared with Iratin Steppa's system but it's not far off and the clarity is superior. I mean, when Loefah did the third rewind of ruffage and turned the bass right up, the sound was suddenly all-enveloping without becoming oppressively distorted. It really was not far off being perfect, in that if you wanted to overload your senses you just moved closer to the speakers; otherwise you got this beautiful sound. Comparison's with Shaka are worth making

Other than that it was all cool. The security was friendly (not that they needed to do anything all night - other than keep on eye on people nodding off in case they were ill), which they did very well. There was loads of seating, and opening up the back bar was a really good idea and made everything much more comfortable. And bar service was quick - but we REALLY want to drink Red Stripe. JA beer innit...
