communism is best, but only on paper, give one person or one group of people dat much power and its bound to get corrupted

democracy is good in a short span, because it runs off of capitalism which is cut throat and a cancer to this earth (i think we can see the eefects of capitalism an democracy on the world today)

now if we want to change the world and truly make a difference in the long run a socio-democracy is the way, not too much power in the "ruler", not too much emphasis on the individual (which helps to lead to a break down of family and morality and values)

discuss,.......
capitalism.......uugh

I'm with you on this one, i'm staunchly socialist, but at the same time massively apathetic about the likelihood of any real progress being made in my lifetime.

All i can hope is my grandchildren might live to see (or even be born into) a world with some semblance of true democracy and opportunity, and in the meantime use the skills i have to alleviate a bit of the suffering.

The current economic crisis is probably just angina. Sure it hurts like hell, and it's a good indicator that a heart attack might be coming, but it's not the real thing just yet.

I think we have a big property value issue - There are all these spaces, and yet the rent they are asking is just impossible to turn without being some sort of mass producer/mover..so every business that goes in fails - not because the business is a failure, but because it isn't bringing a remarkable excess of cash flow..

How can you expect that much from a space?

GREEDY LANDHOLDERS - GREEDY BANKERS

I read an interesting story about a printing business recently - this printing business had a line of credit with a bank for it's machines and it's supplies, paper purchases etc..They had never failed - not even once, to pay their monthy payment to the bank - The bank decided that they wanted their money back from this business - that was suceeding and employing 12 people - not because it was failing - but because it was not proving a return beyond their original credit agreement - so they used a recent purchase of a new machine as a way to claim default on the loan by accusing the Co. of expanding without consulting the bank - so the bank called in an immediate payment on the loan..the business owner of course couldn't provide the price of the machines obviously, because that is what the loan was for - so the bank foreclosed - seized his assets -sold his machines - put the Co. out of business - and the owner had done absolutly nothing wrong in regards to their original agreement...

Now that is a BANK failing their customer - not a failure of business...They just want their money liquid so they can make sheisty 2 day investments on the stock market to skim..to pull off their $.02 profits on a large scale..they don't care about real people or real businesses..they just want to make the most money off of other peoples money..

Who cares about mainstreet when you can stay in your penthouse and pull off people enslaved to warehouses in the coutryside..now that is the american version of the capitalist/communist labor camp.

Try staying in here 12 hours a day...IF you make it the first 2 weeks (2/3 don't) - then most crack in the second month..

great thread.

anyone really interested in what's going to happen (and more important - what to do about it) go here;

http://www.transitiontowns.org/

and buy / read this;

http://www.amazon.com/Transition-Handbo ... 811&sr=8-1

and watch this;

after all that, you won't care what happens to music really, because you'll realise that it's much bigger than that....

I'm speaking locally for me here... but judging by what my local gvmnt has shown me, there is only an interest in sustaining things the way things are and perpetuating the corrupt office that they have held for the past few hundred years... they got in office for reasons more political and socio-economical that politics and socio-economics. I have a hard time seeing this go over well with the goblins, tbh.

Just to give you an idea, rumor has it that we've been given a few grants from a few big places to build a skate-park in effort to stem the wide-spread drug addiction of our middle and high-school kids.. and every time that money is rumored to have shown up, nothing happens...

save a few more overdoses.

There really are some wonderful ideas around to cope with change;
the one about being interdependent is axiomatic.

By those of us in the future,
we may be considered barbarians
for our complicity in exploitation,
from our wars and wage-slavery.

If you hear frogs after rain
we learnt from our failures.

Yeah I know Dead Ratz: I got that from BeatMeatManifesto.
