voids have been the best i've heard dubstep on so far (RIP the gramps hifi system  but bring on the dirt :D )! i find f1 way too tinny and when the bass is upped it ends up sounding sludgy and dirty... and you lose the mids... it's a much more pleasant experience to be able to hear the whole spectrum....

but it really comes down to the engineer and the rooms acoustics in the end - they can make or break any system.

the best tuned soundsystems i've heard have been all the crews at the UK Dub Conference Soundclashes in Wembley... (including iration steppas/king earthquake/jah voice etc) they put so much work into tuning them so beautifully at these nights - literal walls of sound.... jeez would i love to hear some dubstep on them! definitely get ur arse there if you see one coming up, they're normally every few months - the experience is worth three times every penny you pay

F1 in the rainbow in brum aint bad, when the technician isn't asleep that is.............. :|

Apart from that valve at the medicine bar was ok imo..., wasn't as pumping as at some events in london that ive been 2but still good. This may be the fact that the club is surrounded by old buildings made of glass though :o

DSF is also pretty good, but yet again im yet to hear dubstep on it!

Before I left the UK, was Iration Steppas..

Now it's got to be the Subtle Soundsystem in Christchurch, NZ.
And I only heard half of it

if you've stood infront of a funktion one sub cabinet, you know what just one of those boxes can do...just look at the stack in this pic. three on top of each other is .... :o

cielo here in nyc, has only two and it's serious. i can imagine what 6 would be doing...

DSF Notts is so well engineered and packs a mean punch with only 2 thin stacks (that night with Benga & Ntype was the last HR @ Maze)

Both times I've seen Irration were immense - the 1st time was with 3 stacks, lethal!

Am lovin the Void stuff after hearing the Urban Scrumping Rig, really wanna put that in a nice room!

FWD apart from when the mids go distorted is absolutely great. Futureproof in Nottingham is my mates night but still in that small room that system is spot on, reminds me of the one in PP.
The first time I ever went to forward, there was some mic feedback or something for a second or so, and my left ear was fucked for weeks. I began to realise that I should invest in earplugs.

I went to Subdub a couple of summers ago, didn't take my earplugs, and really didn't enjoy myself after a while cos I was in pain. Insanely loud. Rolling a joint was fun, because the weed was seriously jumping around in the skin due to the vibrations!

I saw Kode9 at Futureproof in the Social (or whatever it's called these days) in May this year - with earplugs this time - and I've never been so beaten up by bass before. Talk about sonic warfare...

Futureproof is probably the best rig I've come across so far. The tunes sounded different there.

hmm....
here s the full article with tech specs...
http://www.funktion-one.com/Berghain_Germany_Mondo.htm
That's all from 2005 tho, so it shows their first iteration of the system. 2 weeks before the first Sub:stance this year, the whole Berghain rig was upgraded to 6.1...and I still havent heard it.....and now I'm also missing Kode9,bug,martyn, in Berghain....FCK.

Oh well.... I'm still hoping for june-august09....so maybe see you then & there on the first sub:stance birthday.

I was there that system was awesome. My first Dubstep night as well, couldn't have been better. The look on the managers face was priceless. :D

The best system i ever heard was the Jungle Slammer @ Starlight 2001 in Leicester back in 1998. Ridiculously bass heavy but clear at the same time. 4 massive stacks absolutely dwarfed the dancefloor.

Iration is hard to beat but sometimes i feel that they take it too far. No way can you properly hear that system without (good quality) earplugs.
