Been using compressors with limited knowledge so this is an insane help to me and other "baby" producers, I'm sure. :4:

Still love the thread...

what i used to hate about compression is that i felt threshold and ratio were doing the same thing and i never knew how much of each i should push...

here's a tip i came across that really helped me get the difference between threshold and ratio...

threshold : what //// what (part of the sound) you want to compress
ratio : how ///// how much are you compressing that part

that alone kinda changed everything for me.

I know this thread is called compression in depth, but really it is quiet superficial. No offense, honestly, totally dope thread, and I'm not flossin'. This is a great intro to the basic concepts of compression. But there are a lot of devils in the details. That is where I can get lost.
