because most producers strive to have their material played by DJs in a club, they build their tunes with a progression / structure based on 4 beat measures in groups of 4 (or multiples of 4).
e.g. a tune will have an intro consisting of 8 bars of 'kick kick snare kick" , and the 9th bar will contain the full loop (sub, synth, hihats, snare and kick).

to 'make' a double drop a DJ starts by finding two songs with roughly the same tempo and predominant key (just as if s/he were going to make a harmonic / "key" mix).... The defining characteristic in this case is that each tune has the exact same structure (perhaps each starts with 32 bars of drums and ambiance, is followed by 32 bars of wobble and sub, then has another 32 of drums and ambiance....). the DJ will either start both tunes at the same time or bring the 2nd tune in when the 1st comes back round to one of the quiet stretches.

the only thing that separates a double drop from a normal in-key mix is the 'phrasing' or structure of the tunes...
hope this helps...

(&@jinxkal...u cant hate on the n00bs... i myself would have no idea what a double drop is except for the considerate and intelligent patrons of DSF...

and feel free to correct any mistakes...i'm still a n00b coz i live in the dirty)

Seven - Siren --> Benga - Crunked up

Zed Bias - Ambush riddim --> Jakes - Modem

The Bug feat. Flowdan, Killa P - Skeng --> Kromestar - Badman

Chase & Status - Eastern Jam --> Crissy Criss - Soap dodger

but the best are...

Benny Page - Step up --> G-Squad - Assumptions (Skreamix)

A millie Remix (Mad Decent 090) --> Digital Mystykz - Earth a run red
