I agree 100%. I'm always happily surprised by scouting around t'internet & DSF for new producers with different takes on dubstep and you'll always find someone who has the same tastes as you that has added their own style to it and created something fresh that you do like.

Just keep listening!

I will say however.....nothing beats 80's cartoons :D:

Caspa,Rusko, suk night, stenchman, jakes(how is he even big?)benny page,n-type,hatcha and a whole heap ov other shit just like what i mentioned here
I see what he means with that list though, as for the whole 'back in the day attitude' you've just gotta keep your fond memories and move on. there's still plenty of good stuff around.

You know what I always tell them?

"You're not looking hard enough."
Exactly!

Obviously with progress theres gonna be more of something (well, more shit tunes in this instance) but if you know what you like and look hard enough you can always find some great stuff amongst the dross... :D

In terms of pure volume there's probably as much stuff that I like coming out now as there was 'back in the day'. it's just that it makes up a much smaller percentage of the scene. Remember that when tunes like Ruffage and Request Line were coming out you used to get about one or two dubstep tunes a week on boomkat, tops.

Similarly, the OP's list of people they're still into is probably about as many people as were playing out in total when the scene was new. I can still go out most weeks in London and hear really awesome sets.

I guess what's really lost is the feeling that the scene is a united thing where everyone's into a similar sort of boundary pushing ethos. Where if you see a record labelled 'dubstep' you don't know what it's going to sound like but you're pretty sure you're going to like it. Where if you go to any dubstep night you feel like you've really got a common bond with everyone there. This is why I wouldn't be surprised or bothered if dubstep to some extent seperated out into nights for people who want good straight up boshy saturday night music and don't need anything too surprising and nights for people who want something a bit weird, a bit garagey, a bit funky, a bit wonky, a bit moody and a bit sexy.

Also, all this telling people to shut up and not express their opinions is a bit waste IMO. If you disagree and think dubstep now is better than it's ever been then say so, but just telling people to stfu because people expressing negative opinions makes the baby jesus cry is weak.

Nah, it's just you.

I'm in my 30s and been listening to electronic music since I becamse aware of House when I was 13. It's just as good as it ever was. You must be looking in the wrong places.

In every scene that ever existed there were the people who said the scene is dead. in this case its total bullshit, this scene was barely born last night.
Listen to music you like, go to events you like, but don't go around dissing people
