just seen you in the server mate, we're all going asleep but defo hit up devils castle on lu30 if you're short of anything, camp with loads of weaponry.
be careful though, noone was there when we left but the server has a good 30 people in it so anything could happen
will add you on steam tommorow morning
peace

They're closed testing 1.7.2.4 right now...helicopters are back in!
I'm gonna be raining fire down on you ma'fuckers tonight yo 8)

(to anyone else who thinks they are a badman, I advise you practice flying the helis in Arma 2 editor before going in on DayZ...they're highly dangerous)

I almost didnt bother getting this game. But yes, ok, its all-kinds-of-ace.

Now I gotta get a mic, so is it ok just to use a cheapo <£10 mic, for the voip? Cos' I got a decent condenser but I can't use it, for various reasons, so I dont want to spend much. Specifically is the signal-to-noise ratio acceptable for other people listening?

P.S. Anybody lucky enough to get the L85A2 AWS ?

P.P.S. Anybody got nvg they can give me?

Great game, could be 'Doom' good.

Yep...I use an old PS3 Singstar mic which someone gave me for VOIP. Mic placement, as ever, is the key!
A lot of servers had disabled in-game VOIP but recently it seems to be enabled on most servers. We spent about 3 hours in Cherno the other day with 3 of us sniping and one of us running around holding people up with the mic then robbing, executing, or sniping them

Yep, they rule! NV/thermal scope. You can scope out a treeline in about 2 seconds. And they take STANAG or SD STANAG. Hit us up, I can sort you one.

Yep, hit us up on Steam (cruising_beef) or add any of my mates who play Arma 2, we've stashed a few NVG's.

been nuked a couple times, carpet bombed, brought to thunderdome, teleported to deathmatch island and the best last night...
parachuting cows, and i got off just before the entire server got turned into cows

i wish battleye wasn't so shit

if i were to get a desktop for this, what specs would get it going?

6gb RAM? 3GHZ+ processor?

Don't need max res or anything, just a fairly stable frame-rate at mid settings

I have a i5 2500k sandybridge 3.3ghz
8 gb ram
GTX 550 TI 1gb graphics card

I run it on full specs, hi res HD, etc.
No issues with frame-rate.

Bear in mind its a pretty old game now...I run it on nearly full settings @ 1920x1080 with about 40FPS and my specs are pretty laughable:

2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
9600GT

It's a pretty badly coded engine though as far as I can tell. A lot of people who have next-level specs still get FPS issues.

It's weird.
It seems to run well on some systems and not on others.
I was worried but got amazing results once installed.

Lucifa - I can't comment on the AMD chipsets.
I'm sure it will run well.
