Low frequencies tend to make compressors go stoop and clip sounds in a rather unpleasant way. I personally would rather eq the very low freqs before compressing, then add a bit of distortion to make it fatter.. but controlled..

I have to side with Ldizzy on this one. It's the power in the low-end that is more likely to trigger the compressor, this is why you get high-pass filter side chains in certain compressors to give a more natural sound.

The guys from Koan apparently do all of their EQ'ing BEFORE distortion / Compression so that you can really drive the frequencies you want into the compressors. Gives a much cleaner / rounded sound.

They also mix down all of their tunes on a £15 pair of headphones that they've had for years.

yeah but the strings have to be the same length otherwise phasing issue n iss really bad

open audacity > generate > tone > sine > 45 hz > export > boom

That's between F and F#
If you start with 55hz, that's an A note and so you already know what to tune the base note to if you throw it in a sampler. If you remember A440 and then divide or multiply by 2 you'll get the octaves....so: 440, 220, 110, 55, and 27.5Hz are all "A" notes.
Also make sure the first sample point is at the zero crossing or you'll get a click sound at the beginning of all your notes. (something that drove me crazy when I first started hah)

You have to be careful with this one mind because if overdone it can get rid of a lot of the 'air' in a mix

The smoke can be harmful to your gear as well.
