You can use the stereo imager to split frequency bands. When you've done that, take every band to it's own scream 4, and into a mixer, and you're done.

Be careful with tape distortion, it reverses the phase, so don't use it for parallel distortion.

thanks guys! multi-band distortion is quite important imo, I knew there had to be some way to do it with Reason

If you're still not sure how to split the frequency bands, try looking at the routing of the preset 4 band compression mastering suites or whatever :)

also if your splitting for dirty midrange you can get completely isolated frequencies(very unnatural/mechanical sound)by using vocoders inb eq mode to isolate bands

Cheers in advance

Route the output of malstrom into the input of Thor and then in Thor route input 1 to filter 3 left in; and input 2 to filter 3 right in

You can also route it to filter 1 and use all 3 filters this way ;-) same way as ehbrums described (obviously choose filter 1 instead in the mod matrix), but iirc this will only work if Thor is receiving midi data/being triggered. Just turn off it's oscillators and draw a long note on the sequencer.

How can you rout it to filter one if there's no input for filter one?

Ofcourse there is a input for filter 1.

Your mod matrix should look like this:
Audio In1 -> 100 -> Filt1 In
Audio In2 -> 100 -> Filt1 In

Filt1 In can be found under Filter 1 (4th down on the list) then on the sub drop down menu it's the top one 'Audio Input'.

Don't forget to trigger it with midi or else there will be no sound ;-)

you don't have to trigger it with midi. You also shouldn't rout it to filter 1, because your signal becomes mono then. Filter 3 is the way to go.

Well I get no sound when thor is not triggered so I'm pretty sure it has to be, unless there is another way? True it will be mono but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it. Oscillators and their waveforms (not sure if all) from other synth are double mono anyway, unless you did some other processing which changes this.

Whoops, i was wrong, you have to midi trigger it. Sorry about that.

I hope this does motivate alot more people to leave they're reason4/5 cracks and move up to 6, people don't understand how much of a step up it really is.

cannot wait for 6.5

i think it will make a lot of people leave their DAWs and VSTs for Reason. the less i have to use Logic the better!

i hope they'll not just make fancy new stuff, but also make the essentials reason lacks, like a good reverb, some more distortion, a highpass/multifilter, ...
