The dubstep song has a part in it where it switches to dnb and this is where I was going to attempt to mix the two together.

I seem to be having a lot of problems getting the songs to work together. I am wondering if I should create a new project with the project tempo set at 170bpm, mix the two songs together in this new project. Save the file. Then import the mixed songs into the 140bpm project. And then I could save the songs as being 140bpm after?

Does this make sense?

Giving me alot of headaches trying to wrap my head around this warping.
have you tried automating the tempo?

No actually I never thought of that before. Would I do that through the master channel?

So I could modify the project tempo for the part where it speeds up to 170bpm or whatever and then when I want it to return back then just adjust it back to 140bpm?
This sounds like it might work

yeah ive automated the tempo in a few tracks where ive transitioned from dubstep to dnb. just do it gradually so you can blend it in easier, don't like have a sudden change in tempo. also avoid too much percussion where the tempo changes, it normally stands out too much - especially if your moving up to 170+bpm.

I have a little acoustic bass bit that I want to use in sampler, and it has this really good sustain. But when I play it on the higher notes it gets a lot shorter. I know that this is just part of the relationship between pitch and length, but is there any way around that? I know sometimes you can change the length and pitch independently in things like Audacity but I was wondering if ableton too.

Stll need help with this please

Hey guys, I'm new to Ableton (about 2 days in) and I have a "messing around track" going on to get the feel for ableton. My question is, "How can I make the LFO change on the same pattern without recording it by hand"

This is a natural characteristic of a sampler, not really sure of a way around that other than creating multisamples and looping the parts that you want to sustain. Timestreching may be another option.

I would probably just make multiple Clips in Session View with different LFO changes on each one. I'm sure you could automate the LFO in the Arrangement View also.

Thanks I'll try that out.

Care to explain this further?

you could also automate inside in the clip too, just means you have it done and one less thing to do when going over to arrange page.

Loop the sustain section of the sample. Read the Sampler manual or Google it; it's a common technique.

set the start marker at the beginning of the clip, and the loop markers around the sustained section. When you trigger the sample, it'll start at the beginning and then loop the last bit...simples

Question - this surely must be simple and overlooking something. If I have a sample loaded into a clip cell and the waveform in the bottom window. How do I edit the waveform on the fly? Instead of chopping a break into a drum track and programming it, say I just want to copy the 1 bar break over 2 bars - I type in 2 in the bar length, but that just gives me an empty space for the second half of the clip - how do I copy n paste the audio from the first half of the clip into the second... then say, reverse/detele/copy/paste over a section?

might be misunderstanding you here... but instead of making the clip 2 bars length, just duplicate the 1 bar loop in arrangement view (or session view) and then re-mangle/reverse/transpose etc etc the new duplicated clip

Yeah, I could do that, but I'm trying to avoid that. Instead of working in arrangement, I want the 2 bar clip as an actual clip. Is there no way to edit/copy/paste/etc the waveform in ableton?

MY QUESTION OF TODAY:

I've recorded some hi hats and percussion sounds from vinyl straight into ableton and chopped them up....and I sliced it with warp markers and now I can trigger all the sounds with my midi keyboard and pads, but how can I easily save them all as .wavs to build up my own sample collection....

what I can do is drag them one by one in a new folder in my sample libary but that takes ages and if I drag only one sample in a folder you have like 4 different maps and a .aiff file

so what is the best way of doing this and sorry if I'm not clear because my english could be better:p

thanks in advance

Well drag them all into arrangement view and position them at the start. The go to file>export audio/video>in the render box it should be set to master. Change this setting to all tracks and export with whatever settings you like

I cant drag midi slices in the arrangement view?

so your're saying that I have to make a new track for every single sample?

did this work for you?

if you are still wondering how to do it, you need to go to arrangement view, then go to the master channel on the bottom of the screen, open it up, as if you were going to automate some thing as if you would on an audio or instrument channel, then find the 'tempo' under the master tab, and automate as you wish.
PROTIP: change the 2 values that will be automated to 140 and 172 (or whatever tempos youre working at)

try and make the tempo change sustained over like 4 - 8 bars, with no percussion, or some if u want to give a cool effect

I don't think you NEED to put it in the arrangement view. Try it with the way it is at the minute
