That being said, I've done parties that were essentially 'micro promotion' where you set yourself a limit, say £20, and have to promote using that only. Get yourself a free to hire venue, make your own flyers, book your mates, free Facebook page etc etc...not as hard as you might think.

Obviously the issue comes when you've done a few of these and you're looking to book a guest and have to splash a bit more cash...

Haha Im I no position to even properly consider it as much as the idea appeals to me. I was just curious more than anything but yeah seems to be a mix of money and some good connections though!

It doesn't have to be money though. Are there [genre you're thinking about] parties in your area on, say, a Sunday? If not, gap in the market. Find a local venue (wine bar with a soundsystem, nothing massive) and ask if they mind you putting on a party on a Sunday (assuming it's a quiet day for them business wise)

Print your own flyers, get yourself down the local army surplus shop for some camo netting to staple gun to the ceiling etc etc, drag some decks down and put on a party.
