Check out Perc Trax label, specifically the Dead Sound tracks. Locked Groove might be right up your alley too.AxeD wrote:Can't say I agree with you here, but like I said if you want stuff similar to Blawan I wouldn't go with techno music.wormcode wrote:Well, it's not 100% similar but a lot of his tracks remind me of schranz, but with more house inspiration. Schranz is a bit of a joke genre but there's some good tunes. Chris Liebing was really pushing those sounds for a few years. Check out CLR artists like him, Umek, Speedy J and other labels they release on.vishes wrote:As I said before in this thread, atm I'm really feeling this sort of organic/industrial sound of techno that (for instance) Blawan is pushing. But I was wondering if anyone could recommend me any other producers with a similar sort of sound?
Sorry for the stupid question, I know, but I'm going to a record store tomorrow that has loads of techno records so knowing what other producer I could look for would make it a lot easier for me while I'm digging through the crates.
Last time I was there I hadn't heard of 90% of the producers so I didn't really know what records to pick up and check out.
Thanks guys.
Although I understand Gwa is probably joking it's not exactly the usual techno sound.
A set from Brian Sanhaji is entirely a different vibe than a set from Blawan.
I'd stick to the UK, some Birmingham stuff maybe.. and scb of course.

Re: the techno thread
anyone got something similar like the last new Vatican Shadow EP for me? I'm not talking about the ambient/power electronics/noise style, I'm talking specifically about the latest release, with a lot of melody (gloomy) and breaky percussion?

Denial of all reality by this guy is real good, think I heard it in a Jonas Kopp mix once.

Re: the techno thread
Yeah I agree with that. I was referring to him asking for 'Industrial sound of techno'. A few Blawan are reminiscent in some way (to me at least)... that style of tune where it sounds like one big sound/groove moving. Hard to explain, but he's definitely got more organic samples and more house type stuff like the vocal manipulation going on.AxeD wrote:Can't say I agree with you here, but like I said if you want stuff similar to Blawan I wouldn't go with techno music.wormcode wrote:Well, it's not 100% similar but a lot of his tracks remind me of schranz, but with more house inspiration. Re: the techno thread
Thanks for all your suggestions guys, I will look into those
And yeah, sorry for calling his music 'Techno'. I realise that it probably isn't exactly but I didn't know what else to call it. And in in the record store that I went to his releases are in the Techno crates so that's why I asked for similar Techno.
Thanks again though guys!

Re: the techno thread
Id say it is Techno, it is him applying his sound to a Techno frame, Tuesday's March on the Frozen Border compilation has to be Techno, I dunno what else you could call it, its definetly not "Post-Dubstep" or "Bass Music".vishes wrote:Thanks for all your suggestions guys, I will look into those

Re: the techno thread
Yeah just like juke is house music. There's many styles and different takes on the sound.
Re: the techno thread
Don't get me wrong, I'd label it techno.. But if you would start looking for stuff labeled techno,
chances are you are going to find very different music
In the end, it's some great tunes he put out.
Vishes, did you go to Rush Hour or Distortion maybe? I get my vinyl at Rush Hour, great store / label.

Nah man, I live close to Rotterdam so those are a bit too far away for me. It takes me about 2 / 2,5 hours to get to Dam unfortunately...AxeD wrote:Vishes, did you go to Rush Hour or Distortion maybe? I get my vinyl at Rush Hour, great store / label.
But Clone Records in Rotterdam is like 5 min away from where I go to school so lately I've basically just been going there for all my records. . Saves me a ton on shipping you know.
I do want to check out Rush Hour or Distortion the next time I'm in Dam though.
Re: the techno thread
I'll have a look at Clone then, heard good things.

Re: the techno thread
Ahh yeah I get you, there isnt really anything out there, that I would say is too similar to Blawan like that organic sound, other than people from the dubstep side that have started making techno, like Randomer and the like. But yeah, he does seem to have more of an industrial side to it. Id say, listen to his mixes to find similarish stuff that he plays, like Tommy Four Seven, the new Forward Strategy Group album, the new MPIA3 thing on Avian.AxeD wrote:Don't get me wrong, I'd label it techno..
