Nice one. I'll try them out but I keep trying to watch Spartacus (yes. I also watch trash) on them and it's always shit with the dubbing out of sync.
Seriously though, do you recommend I stay away from that film?
Either way i'm going to leave it for a while, need something slightly merrier than 8mm.

nah i dont recommend you stay away from it at all, its a good film, i just found it very bleak, kinda thing i'll watch once but probably wont watch again
i dont wana give anything away by telling you why i found it so bleak, its definitely worth a watch but yeh, i'd give it a bit of time or so if you've just watched 8mm! i remember watchin 8mm years ago, its about snuff films right? cant remember much of what happened in it tho

Cool, i'll give it a go in a week or so.
Yeah, 8mm is about a guy (your top boy, Cage) trying to find out if a film is really snuff or not. I mean, i'm comfortable with most things, i'm grown and I know there is a lot of nasty, horrible things/people in the world, but it just got to me. I think it's probably to do with the length of the film (a good 2hrs) and the ceaseless darkness throughout. All of the content was nothing new to me but the whole was most definitely greater than the sum of it's parts.
When i'm watching any kind of film i've always got 'this is just a film' at the back of my head, but this just seemed all too plausible, too real. I suppose that speaks volumes for the skill of the film makers.

The Hangover 2. Needed a couple laughs last night. This had a couple. Other than that it was just as i expected, pretty darn awful.

8mm is a good film. I always rate Cage for Raising Arizona and Wild At Heart, but he was solid in 8mm too up until the end bits with him crying, dunno... Didn't buy it. Plus it had a good soundtrack. Both Nic Cages were good in Adaptation too, yeah.
Btw there was a sequel, 8mm 2 or whatever. If you see it on the shelf, just keep walking.

Layer Cake - massive fan of this, always worth a watch
The Guard - fucking hilarious, one of the funniest films I've seen in years. In Bruges style humour.
Thunderball - missus had never seen it, so we sat together and she was laughing her arse off at all the bits that Austin Powers ripped off

The first is fucking brilliant.
(Starship Troopers series)
Yeah the first is excellent.
Check out part 3, called Marauder. It's somewhere between them. Much better than the second one, but it has a really ridiculous religious theme and over the top Christian symbolism toward the end. It comes of as really preachy, I couldn't decide if it was actually pro-christian or continuing Verhoeven's satire and social commentary on politics/religion/militarism. Seemed like a bit of both, though it wasn't pulled off quite as well, but Verhoeven is a master at that stuff. Either way it's a pretty funny movie with bad blue screens and bad acting. Casper Van Dien is back in it, I guess he couldn't find anything else.

I've got box set of Layer Cake, Snatch and Lock Stock and always thought Layer Cake was the weakest of the 3, but still a good watch.
Snatch is definately the one

They shot a scene of Layer Cake on my street! I remember when they were filming.
Seven Pounds
What a dumb idea for a movie. I just thought it was really stupid.
