Garethu Baleru is supposed to become huge in Asia.
I'd ponder that Madrids economic structural changes is roughly just the asian market changing (maybe for 10 years). But imo, they are smart.
We all still believe they have a chance of winning cl, eventhough it's been almost twenty years and the fact that they dont stand a chance, and one of the reasons is the way they buy really popular showy players for the cl that appeal to everybody not just football fans. They could compete in la liga with mostly spanish players and pay them a lot less.

no, thats just media having a go at barca. unless you mean that neymar will be the reason they get a transfer ban, but i think that isn't correct as he is older.

Sky paid £400m for the last Champions League TV rights, BT Sport last year won them at £900m. BSkyB shares crashed and wiped £1.5bn off the value of the company lol.

I'd expect there to be an even bigger increases in wages soon, especially at the top clubs.

Whats the deal with madrid? I've never understood their financial situation, aren't they publicly funded or some shit?

No, it's actually mostly what i said. sponsor ship deals, media presence leading to popularity, 'owning' certain papers and cleverly deciding to make cl the main focus. Because of the way cl is done you can afford to have a player like kaka fail in the general competition and then field him so 'asian' fans get to see him. Unfair to use asian again, you know what i mean.
By doing this for a while, they've completely changed the wage structure in all of football and if it wasn't for sheer popularity, they'd probably have gone under with the galacticos team and would've made the spanish sports department (!) have to go around and look for money.

oh and ofcouse if the failed miserably, there'd be basis for bankrolling. And there has been writeoffs in the past like southstar said. Right before signing Beckham, which says a whole lot imo.

oh and the way the tv deal is done in spain, but again that relates to how it's the 'royal' club so yeah in a way, just not the largests sums.

They did yes. But the really objective truth is that for example compared with Barcelona that have an academy, certain style and philosophy, is owned by the fans, go for possession etc, Madrid is just a busyness located in the football world doing anything to dominate economically. They can be that way because they have the backing when it's needed.

Not to forget the national divides in spain that play a huge part.

It's lucky that Ronaldo has that attitude of having to win tbh, otherwise they'd look a lot worse and way more speculative like with Mourinho and whatnot.
