Not oustanding, but worth a watch.

Most famously (in electronic music anyway) is definitely Dillinja - The Angels Fell from 94 or so.apmje wrote:Also in Tunnidge - Dark Skies.vishes wrote:Yeahh that scene in particular was so fucking good.
Also that one somewhat the beginning with "Fiery the angels fell." Vex'd used that sample in Thunder, didn't they?
Been hearing samples from Blade Runner since the 80s though, probably as soon as bootlegs hit the street. Even Vangelis sampled it haha.
There was an old old website that had a list of the top sampled films for all music genres, and Blade Runner was top 5 out of hundreds. There's a mirror of the site somewhere...
Anyway here's a dnb list if anyone's interested: http://dnbforum.com/showthread.php/9829 ... er-Samples

Recently, I watched Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon".
It's now one of my favorite movies, but most of Stanley's movies are.

Just seen this for the first time:

I missed that scene though where he hacks one of his wife's tits off with the axe? Did they take that out? Or is that from an entirely different film? (Only ever seen that .GIF once and assumed it was from this)

Gotta rewatch Barry Lyndon sometime. Monster film
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel
Yeah that does not happen in the shining. Now it sounds like that's what you were watching the movie for......lol.
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel
Hahah no no. But while I was watching the film I vaguely remembered that .gif and thought the girl to which that happened kinda looked like Jack's wife, so I assumed that that probably had to happen sometime in the movie. Also because it happened with an axe. But it never did so I thought they maybe took that out or something. But turns out I was wrong then.spire wrote:Yeah that does not happen in the shining. It was really a great film though. Really really good.
Although I read that the novel is even better, has anyone read it?

I think the film was better, but Stephen King disagreed and helped make a remake miniseries of the film.vishes wrote: It was really a great film though. Really really good.

To be fair, a lot was changed for Kubrick's film and it was more his interpretation of the book. Still amazing though. Watch the Stephen King approved version for a good laugh! It was more true to his book, but cheesy SciFi channel-ish.

Speaking of Kubrick, I recommend this:
Basically he pretends to be Stanley Kubrick in order to trick young guys into having sex with him and buying him drinks. Funny/odd little film. Malkovich is good as always.

Just saw this movie that just came out, still in theaters, called "Bully." it's about bullying in schools in America and all that, it was really moving.
Re: Secret Ninja Movie Club (aka what have you watched latel
that's an amazing cover. never seen that one. i've seen most of fassbinder's work though. the middle period is where he definitely shines the most.spire wrote:Just got this for my bday, World on a Wire

i had already seen the film tho, and since seeing the film again still think the book was better but should probably re-read it to make a better judgement

Trailer looks interesting, real life drama that looks, well, real, not the over celebrated dramatic acting that fills many movies.parson wrote:check out Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
