Cheers to those who gave feedback. Here's some return FB for those that commented without recieving any from me yet.
@ Hutyluty - Love the style of both tracks. I'm really in to massive and progressive tunes, and i love the wall of noise. Really dig the melodies and instruments in both. Great atmospheric spacey sounds. Thought Fakarak at parts was struggling a bit with the mix. Maybe try getting some stereo seperation in the wall of noise. It sounds a bit like everything is fighting to be on top of the mix at parts, so use the space of your stereo fields and make sure your not flooding any of your frequences. Ravira was mellow. Sounded like a cool film score a bit. Very enjoyable.
@ Traffikz - Your track isn't loading up sorry dude. I'll keep an eye out and leave some fb later.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@a.paul: wow, thats a VERY nicely produced track. the mixdown is solid as fuck, as well as sound choice. the track is just a tad too chill for me, but that might just be the mood im in right now. i think a cliche little rhodes break with some jazzy descending chords would work really well on this track. whats up with that harp-ish thing. sample? or super awesome preset?
@asterix: sorry man, i'm not really digging this one. sounds like you took that song with the piano, slapped some drums on, put a mid/high distorted synth over it and just started fuckin around with the LFO. this might automatically sound quite a bit better if you lower the frequency of the synth (i just mean you'll get closer to the conventional wobble sound). use the sampled piano song sparsely, not throughout the whole song, and add more elements of your own (bass, hi hats... etc). you just... can't use a sample that extensively. that's almost just straight plagiarism. now if YOU recorded that sample then nevermind me. sorry, didn't mean to sound harsh, just trying to help out.
heres one i started yesterday. this is just the main idea. i have to say im a bit embarrassed after listening to all the other WIPs (everyone's stuff on here is so close to a finished product, i don't get where the whole idea of WIP went!), but whatever; only a few hours have been spent on it (yea go ahead and laugh, i'm a slow worker) anyway.
Soundcloud
anywho, i would really appreciate ideas and advice on the EQ'ing of this little thing, so I can get that out of the way before writing the whole tune. i can't seem to get the background synth (the more mid-range one) to sound quite right.
oh, and for those of you who are patient and awesome, heres the latest version of dukya head (which i THOUGHT i finished long ago). im pretty satisfied with it. i plan on adding some incidentals when i get my field recorder, and i added proper bass sooooooo... let me here your criticisms (if you haven't already heard it on this thread 20 times)!

Sounding good dude. Really like the percussion and the snare is nice n punchy. Really liked the lead. Thought some of the tom fills needed to be beefed up a bit. Thought the bass rythim needed to change a bit more too.TRaffikz wrote:Woops, something went wrong with the track i uploaded at the top of this page.

Really like this one! As someone else said the drums sound fucking sexy. Really like the pad that floats in and out too. I think the only problem with this will be trying to make it not sound too repetitive. Perhaps bring in a slight lead melody and drop out the congas, then bring it all in together towards the end?

This is my newest, i'll return any feedback. Just a basic idea so far, but any help would be appreciated. I think it's pretty quiet as of right now too, so you may need to turn up the volume a tiny bit.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
Nicorisone: Nice track! Solid mixing, and the vocal tie in very well. The shuffle beat at the beginning threw me off a bit but once the groove settled in, it's was smooth sailing. PO*, maybe pulse the sub bass a little to add some movement during the main lines? Not needed, but may add a bit of motion.
ninthy4: Tek9 Activate: YES. Sounds excellent. Mixing is great and the vocals rock. The sound selection is excellent too; dunno why, but I felt like I was bouncing inside a 44k modem from back in the day. Very cool track; I'll buy and spin this one. Also really like the end Yow in your basslines, that fits better than usual imo for some reason. Skism remix is slick too, very nice rhythm.
Stebrah: Solid mix. Entire track works well together. The changeup around 3:30 is great too, breathed new life into the track. Very enjoyable listen. Wouldn't really change anything in this in it's current form.
Echoi: Man, very surreal track. Very relaxing, love the drums and the background pad. Also great kick selection for this track; really adds to the feel.
Asterix: The synth used for your main; may want to knock that down a notch or two and maybe feature a lower pitched as your main bassline. Was not feeling the groove in this song. Also, it's so loud that it drowns out alot of the work that you can tell was put into the rest of the track. Good start!
a.paul: Forgotten: Should definitely finish this one. Solid groove, good sounds, overall may not be a feature but definitely a keeper. Reminds me of old school TV show jingles for some reason; almost nostalgic =P
blazinaidan: daydreamwip4-1: Cool track. The beat is awkward but pulls you in. Maybe a few extra accidentals to shuffle the groove a bit and fill the gaps? Also, nice sound selection! dukya-head-newest: I like this, but some parts of it seem over bit-crushed for me. It seems like a growlbass would make the song much more aggressive (but at that point, you're talking preference). Builds are nice, and mixing is great. Love your rhythm synths in this one.
marshy: Great start! You nailed it; it seems quiet. That's the only real feedback I can give on this one; it really meshes well and sounds great so far.
I'm just starting producing here and will get some tracks up shortly. You guys will very soon have some "noob material" to compare your stuff to

@marshy, that is very good, no critcism keep feeling it everything up to scratch
@TRaffikz like the bassline, like that tribal feel, but some of the high pitch stabs don't like
@blazinaidin, don't really like the drop, maybe change that around, something deep, sub focused. cool drums, maybe speed it up
I'll post some more feedback later, its 2AM
Kinda rough, just started it tonight

Here's something I made last night: http://soundcloud.com/akkep/putkisto-matka , really excited about how it sounds, giev some feedback!

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@traffikz
Love the snare man! Really powerful
Cool datsik style bassline too, maybe add some more variation on it though, could add some crazy noises or that kinda shit, but thats just my taste maybe
@mindcontrol
Very deep bass, I didn't really like those drums though, it needs to be abit punchier if you know what I mean, but I love that bass man
@Akkep
Thats just sick man, love that bubbly bong sound haha, cool violins and flutes too, maybe abit to much sidechain/compression though, but nonetheless a great track
Here is my track again, been working on it even more, added a break, added another synth on the drop than the bleep one and changed the drum pattern

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
thanks for all of the feedback everyone!
@blazinaidan - liking the reverse reverb on the first one man! a good intro i think, excited to hear more. maybe some chopped up vocal samples might fit in at the drop.
big synths on the second tune! i think the drop needs some more "!!" maybe add a sub. love that synth though though its dope man.
cheers for the feedback! the harp is sculpture in logic, nice ideas about the rhodes, will hopefully get to that today.
@TRaffikz - liking this one man. nice drop and great bass. especially like the bass change up at 1:23 sample fits good too. sorta has a middle eastern feel to it. great percussion!
@mindcontrol - good start man, the bass needs to be louder and more dominant though, looking forward to hearing more.
@Akkep - trippy intro! liking the vocal samples at the drop. maybe change it up a bit in the middle to keep things different.
@ninthy4 - nice work man! liking the break and build up after! BIG DROP!

@ a.paul: Thanks for the feedback mate. Checked your wip. I love where it's going! The little pad comes in very very nicely. Drums are dope. The track could use some more incidentals imo. Why not try some twisted female vocals?(burial style) Finish it!
Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
@TRaffikz - cheers man! thanks for the feedback. will try to add some! love your tune.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for OCTOBER, 2010
fuck, i thought i added a sub! jesus i just cant seem to do it with these speakers. is that more tonic-rooted bass not hitting the sub levels still? maybe i just need to bring it up in volume.a.paul wrote:@blazinaidan - liking the reverse reverb on the first one man! a good intro i think, excited to hear more. maybe some chopped up vocal samples might fit in at the drop.
