I'm taking my creatine with my two meals (back on intermittent fasting, seems decent enough) but the first meal also has a casein shake in it. I take it last out of everything that I eat, but does the casein impair the absorption of the creatine?

Only take a single dose of creatine after my workout w/ whey & dextrose. Considered casein as a late night shake but didn't want it to interfere with my ZMAs.

Nah, casein's just considered slow-absorbing. It turns into a thick lump of protein in your stomach that takes a longer time to be digested. I take it with my first meal to keep me full for a longer period of time during the day cuz I space out my meals quite a lot (6 to 7 hours).
Creatine timing doesn't matter much because you're basically just filling your muscles up to the brim with creatine and water and when you continue to supplement with it when it's filled, it's only to keep your muscles saturated with it. So no matter when you take it, you're still full of creatine.. Think it takes 6 weeks for it to leave your body after your last scoop.
So that's my predicament haha. I'm afraid that if I take my creatine with my casein, the absorption rate is slowed down too much.

Out of interest, why do you take all these additional supplements?

I don't? I only take creatine, caffeine and beta-alanine. Which are scientifically proven to work (and dirt cheap). I take the caffeine supplement to keep me from getting too hungry and I don't like coffee. There's a lot of science on beta-alanine and creatine online.
Casein/whey are just food sources. Whey is taken with my oats cuz it tastes good and it's great way to add lean protein to fill up your macros. The casein's like the caffeine, it keeps me from getting too hungry and it adds protein.
'Eating more' wouldn't help with that. I can overeat 1000 kcals per day and still get hungry and undereat and not be. But I'm on a cut so I'd like to keep my cravings to a minimum.

And so this leads me onto my next question which I previously asked but never received an answer for.
Honestly, how many of you are top heavy?

I've got a tuning fork look going on. Legs are fine, but really lacking in upper body strength, size and definition.

I take protein supplements and creatine because I don't eat meat.
What exactly are you asking, EH? Does my torso, arms and head weigh more than my legs? I would have thought so, yes, and I should hope so too!

I used to be. Now I'm just lean as fuck. I weigh about 17 kgs yes than I used to. I've not bulked in years. Will start come September or October. Or do you mean skinny legs? Cuz nah, mine are tree trunks, the only part of my body that's still big.
But I don't see massive supplement talk at all? Almost all of us are mainly talking about nutrition, they way it should be. And shit, the supplements we do talk about (mostly creatine) have libraries filled with science behind them

There's a tendency amongst some ppl to only work on their upper body.
Often only the arms.
It looks ridiculous.
It just makes them look like juicers.
Gene - I'm not discrediting what you take. I am just interested in the benefits of these additions over just living a healthy life and supplementing with vitamins.
Do you feel the benefits are measurable to the extent that you feel it is essential to your diet?

Oh I see what you're getting at! No, I don't (at least as a primary motivation) lift weights to look big, i'm more interested in muscular functionality - it helps at work. But yeah, I train my whole body.
I'm but no means
big and I was never really the sporty type, I just genuinely enjoy lifting. It keeps me healthy and, as I say, it helps at work.
@gwa - yep, haven't eaten meat in over 13 years

So are any of you sporty?
Or is working out your sport?
The reason I ask is because as some of you may be aware I'm a hockey goalkeeper.
I love hockey and use it as my source of fitness and exercise.
I can't stand working out in a gym or lifting weights for eg.
Give me a cricket ball and a net to bowl into, give me a hockey stick and a ball, I'll be set for good.

I've never been involved with team sports, no. I only enjoy competing with my self or my environment.

I am no different.
I just happen to enjoy some team sports and revel in the physical interaction/competition.
But that can come with individual sports.
I guess the point I am getting at is that I exercise in the context of sport not just working out for the sake of working out.
Gym work is boring to me whereas diving around on a hockey pitch is fun.
