yeah this is about right for me as well

Illmatic got me into hip hop, one of the first CDs i bought (like 3 years after release), i was 7 when it came out

Professor green is the worst rapper in the world ever..ever..ever...and rappers (don't show me a battle video from 2004 or some shit cus i have seen them and he is shit)

Also:

Big L was better than Biggie and Tupac.

I can't agree with Big L being better than Biggie though.

Big L has well written intricate rhymes... for two lines (i'm not musically trained in the slightest so don't know what a bar is) but one chunk (two lines) will rarely have fuck all to do with the next chunk.

Biggie, on the other hand, had well written intricate rhymes that could, as a whole verse or track, be linked up to tell a story.

Hmmm, perhaps but I wouldn't go so far as to say definitely.

Pac was sort of in between L and Biggie in regard to the points in my last post. He could link rhymes together for longer than L but never really had individual rhymes that made you go 'oooooo' like L did.
Pac was a true inspiration though and that goes a long way in my book.

It's up for discussion though whereas Biggie vs Big L isn't, imo.


Edit - strong point there Noam. I'd forgotten Casualties of a Dice Game.

Still think Biggie has the edge though.

and his one liners and puns are pure bodybag material

mainly his flow and delivery is just impeccable

agreed on that. Obviously Big L is sick but it's the (usual) lack of structural cohesion that lets him down in my book.
His body of work only spans a few years which is sad, but then, so does Biggie's....

All three had amazing skill (imo. I think Tupac was very good. A lot of people on here don't) but Biggie was the best all-rounder.
