I produce with Studio One. The MIDI editing is really easy, but I find resampling a pain in the cookie since it only seems to bounce stereo files and you have to go through a whole mixdown process to resample 1/4 of a bar. Also I dislike its FXs, inferior to logic's or ableton's imo. Thinking about moving to Ableton (No clue how to work with it) or Logic, but I really love Studio One's editing. Give it a hit OP, I guess every DAW has its ups and downs.

I was wondering if $320 is a good price for a brand new version of Komplete 8 Standard Full Version by Native Instruments?

Or should I invest that money elsewhere?

If it is the full version then that is a great price...other than a DAW Komplete has any plug-in/instrument you'll ever need to make tunes.

I was an fl studio user for 2-3 months, i dont know if its just me, but i always had a headache and i only made 2 tracks, that too that i didnt have fun making. It was messing with my workflow too much. But now i work on ableton, and even though i use cubase every now and then there is no way im giving up on ableton ever!

Hey, apologies if this has been asked before but I really can't make up my mind. I've been making tunes on FL for about a month or two and it's going reasonably well, but I'm not 100% certain whether to carry on with it or dedicate some time to learning ableton.

When I get into FL I can get up and running within minutes so it feels really comfortable, but very few of the producers that I'm a big fan of actually use it as far as I know e.g Boddika, Joy O, Mosca, Lone, Julio Bashmore, Disclosure etc.

I feel comfortable with it, but despite this I tend to feel that ableton is more 'credible' in a sense. When I load ableton I feel the interface, though much less straight forward for me personally, is much more advanced, aswell as the built in instruments sounding much better right off the bat.

Am I right in thinking that ableton is more advanced or should I just stick to what I know and it really is true that 'it doesn't matter what DAW you use aslong as your comfortable with it'?

Don't let what other people like determine what you should like ... Be yourself if your comfortable in FL then why switch

They are imagination hosts.

One person may like FL. One person may like Ableton. You're a person who is producing a month or two. How many hours in total and you are looking to switch. Lack of commitment to learning now is not going to make you any better in a different DAW.

At the end of the day the choice is ultimately up to you but at least give FL a go first to even it's just to learn some basics.

Give it more than a couple of months. Ableton Live is great, but personally I don't like using it. I just don't like the interface or workflow and can't find it inspiring. I don't really like FL's interface either, but if I had to choose one over the other I'd rather work in FL, and I wouldn't be concerned about features or anything like that. It's purely cosmetic.

You're not right about it being more advanced, but right about it not mattering as long as you are comfortable and know how to use it. When it comes to live usage though, yes that's the area where Ableton Live does come out ahead because it's made for that. FL does have a live mode too though.

Its all subjctive. Fl gets knocked for its simplicity, but for me it just makes the workflow a shit ton easier, whereas I find Abletons workflow quite counter-intuitive. I've taken the time to try and learn Ableton, but it just isn't as comfortable for me as Fruity. However all of thats just one guys personal preference and experience, yours may be totally different. In short, form your opinion from your own experience of the two and ignore everyone else.

A lot of people are really concerned about this, but it is the production techniques that matter, not exactly which tools are used. Most DAWs do the same things in slightly different ways, but eventually they all get to the same place. You won't sound anymore like any of the people you mentioned just because you find out which DAW they use. Just choose what you feel comforable with!

Switching trough patterns, doing dumb equations for the peak controller. No dragging a million windows everywhere. Ableton is greatly layed out. And you can preform your tracks from it right from session view. AMAZING! and I rewire FL for sytrus sometimes.

If you`d learned to produce with a sequencer and not a playlist you`d think a playlist was confusing.
You can make music with sticks and empty paint cans.
Surely all the daws are the same or similar concept.
No-one daw will make it any better or help you to produce a certain sound any easier.
That`s all based on your level of knowledge and how you can translate it to a daw.

I don't get what is up with all these "sequencer wars" going on all over the internet. People don't seem to get that the music has nothing to do with the sequencer, but the guy behind the screen. People tend to diss FL, probably due to the rather unserious name that it has been given, but truth is, FL is da shiiiit.
