Aye well when it comes to a quality and entertaining broadcast I can't fault that, his presentation is sublime and the subject is engaging. I just found it interesting that I was fully to accept anything he'd say without questioning it too much and I guess it's there to interrogate rather than provide a fully rounded arguement taking in both sides with equal measure, like an essay. It's just that I found myself not questioning anything he was saying and when I had that pointed out to me it was kind of unsettling. I guess coz theres so few people out there providing alternatives to the agreed cultural hegemony I just lapped it up. My bad lol

yea man defo, it kind of takes the form of a polemic i suppose, and the advantage of that is, once you get over the initial 'WHOAAAA HEEZ WEL OLLTERNATIV' you can start attacking it

One of the Spanish channels has started a Tony Scott tribute mini-season, this was last night's offering. Damn fine performances from both Washington and Hackman, bit where the guys get locked in and left to drown still makes me feel a bit sick though

Well that was different...in the sense that I've never seen a movie that has borrowed from just about every other horror movie in existence before.

Entertaining though.

Good doc on the 80s and 90s electronic and club scene with some nice interviews, but too much Moby imo & a total lack of James St. James which was the only person besides Gatien and Alig I was really interested in hearing from. Disappointed in that, but otherwise nicely put together by Gatien's daughter & Billy Corben. Just wish they would have interviewed more of the actual club kids and less of the government dicks and informants.

Pusher Trilogy. Brilliant films showing scumbags in their true light. I love how it shows the vunerable side of those who put up the front of hardmen. I especially like Milo in the third chapter.

I agree but it does remind me of Nathan Barley's comment "What music do you cut to".

And I wasn't really saying him being subjective is the problem. It's postmodern i.e no objective truth, just narrative. One view is as good as another and the simulation of documentary is just a style. That's all good, I guess I just felt a little let down, theres so few informative documentaries out there.

Still got this on VHS, i'd be surprised if the old tape player still works though.

Might have to get it on dvd, guessing its on the cheap these days
