I guess i'll overcome it. I haven't finished one beat since I started producing.
Still learning I guess.

Marzz - for me the key factor in improving was moving away from writing loops.
Push yourself to finish the tune.
Not necessarily complete but at least the basis of a completely structured tune.
Things tend to move along faster that way.

I used to and still sometimes end up getting stuck looping tracks over and over making minor tweaks.
The moment I say, "Enough!!", I find tracks develop faster.

My problem is that I sit down and I don't create an idea but I try and try and never come up with anything. I then sit there for 10 minutes and just slowly drift away from my comfy seat to go do something else and forget it.

If I'm battling for inspiration I reach for samples.
I'll rewrite the sample line if it fits and develop it further.
It's all about creating the idea and developing.

I love mashing up samples and changing them beyond recognition... especially with percussion elements.
