If I had to guess, I'd say theres no easy way like Gross Beat, you're probably gonna have to chop up your resampled basses and place them accordingly manually

@Captain Planet: Made in Renoise. Grab the latest demo if you don't have it, and load this up: http://www.mediafire.com/?04o765kj9vlc6p5 (1.5MB)

@timesi: Look into resampling. Like, render your entire bassline out (sample), then cut and splice into the original song creatively (re-sample). I warn you: this will quickly become fun, especially when you start reversing and mangling rhythmically. (Also, try rendering the entire track and then resample that. Fun for days.)

I then ran it through a scream filter with a high resonance and put the scream to about 2 oclock.

Can anyone help me out, i was just wondered how it sounds so "screamy"
i know for a fact that that sound is a preset but slightly modified (sylenth btw). can't tell you which one since I am not to sure i would have to check.

How could I re-create the bass in this track?

Post by MrAural » Wed Jul 20, 2011 12:26 pm

I am going to use NI Massive v1.0, as I do not use any other VST's other than Edirol Orchestral.

How to get Glitchy vibe.

Post by Dooku » Wed Jul 20, 2011 4:57 pm

Hey everyone, I use ableton, and Ive been trying to figure out how to make a track that has the glitchy chopped up vibe to it in its synths, I really cant find a single f*cking post (pardon my language lol) but I really cant find at post about how to actually get my synths to sounds like this for ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkvXO45XL-c

Please help, Ive been experimenting with Gate becasue i think thats how its done, but i feel like im missing something because my notes just hit at once pretty much instead of having a clean pause in between the different synths and stuff. Thanks !

Hey I was wondering how you make this sound on SKREAMS "Clamourous".

From 1.50 to 1.55, he makes the "tail" of his synth "rattle". How would you go about doing that?

wouldn't that just be some shit up in the performer? (assuming you use massive)

EDIT: Here you are; hope I helped: Soundcloud

@Captain Planet: Make an envelope with a sharp attack, short sustain, and hard cutoff; then it's a matter of distortion and bitcrushing. Sometimes a softer attack and comb filtering/15-30ms slapback delay. Example soon.

@D6K Dub: Use a vibrato or tremolo with a steadily increasing depth, but constant rhythm.

I was talking about recreating the bass. By the way.

I have recently fallen in love with high pitched lead sounds, but I have no idea how to make them, I'm only good at making woobly filth.

I'm talking about the kind of sound in the intro of this song:
http://youtu.be/pIR-Sa_tpKc

and @0:55 in this song:
http://youtu.be/0Xn8OO-mU0o
sounds fucking AWESOME!
Shameless self-bump!

If no one can help me with this I'm going to leave it for a while. Hope someone can get me on the right track though ;-)
Easiest way is dirty granular synthesis; clip a moment of pretty much anything and shorten it to a fraction of a section, then loop it and play at a high pitch. Otherwise, sounds like sine + saws + foldback distortion. Portamento + pitch-bending +vibrato to taste. Ringmod can help too.

@Captain Planet: Thanks! Not really a synth; sine/voice* waves + filter automation + distortion + reverb, etc. Take a look with Renoise: http://www.mediafire.com/?cymcasqf2ff5m2s

*I sample my own voice through ghetto granular synthesis.

That bassline at 0:55. It might be easier than I expect.

i'm looking for some help on making basic pads. for some reason i can't ever get mine to not sound awful. stuff like this is what i mean:

(this actually might be a string sample, i can't really tell...but its role in the mix is similar)

they sound pretty simple to make, but whenever i try, they just sound thick and muddy and don't have any of that airy-ness/lightness to them. i think i can do these types of sounds with a basic subtractive synth but somehow i haven't managed it yet, haha. i feel fairly stupid...

thanks!

reduce a bit of lower mid to avoid muddiness perhaps? lightly sidechain em with kicks might help too. saturate/light distortion or layer noise/crackle to make it dirty too.
