holy hell... first murder but it was worth it..
story time.. spent some time solo hunting zombies and looking for gear, nothing much going though.. found someone's tent but only took another camo outfit and a tent kit for myself.. spent ages travelling to different vehicle spawns with no luck, finally logged off on top of a mountain near an atv spawn.. later on i hopped on a new server and found the atv.. missing three wheels but full of gear.. as i'm having a geeze in the trunk i get 'no message received' and eventually lost connection.. the server went down. waited 10 and joined back in before anyone else.. back to the atv and there's now two there jiggling about as one has spawned/duplicated on top of the other.. some of the loot from before seems to be gone and they both have slightly different inventories which was weird.. i decide to destroy them with my frag grenade; i had been saving it for a moment like this.. i retreat to a safe distance and line up my shot.. right as i'm about to click a survivor appears on the other side of the hill and begins searching the vehicles.. i switch back to my gun and line up a shot to the back of the head (probably could have thrown the grenade but i didn't trust my aim).. 'uncle ruckus was killed'.. boomting i've now got those nvgs i was so desperately after, a new gps, an entrenching tool (never heard or seen one ?) didn't take his mountain dew though as i've been told by deadly they are bad luck and if this guy's demise is anything to go by lol.. then i blew both atvs up with the grenade

I have taken a small break after yet again establishing myself and finding all the goodies I needed.
On my way out of Cherno I got shot from god knows where.
I swore rather loudly as the guy that shot me mocked me over voip.
I haven't been back for a week.

That's the problem grillis, I try to stay low-key.
Stick to the woods and isolated farm houses, etc
I'll do city runs for vital eqt.
I just seem to have shitty luck when it comes to pvp.
I watched a group of zeds chase someone through cherno.
Once he was dead I raided his body and found loads of stuff.
Walk around the corner slap into a zed.
He hits me and I pass out.
So my luck is shitty.

i carry around lots and lots of cooked meat.. i'm a feind for that stuff.. keep your blood over 9000 and you shouldn't pass out

Aye staying out of Cherno and Elektro is priority #1 if you wanna play the long game. Can easily find a decent sidearm, assault rifle, the means took hunt/cook food, a water bottle or two, and some gadgets without even looking at a city. Heading that way is just asking for it really (as would be the case in a zombie apocalypse). Also try to steer clear of vehicle spawns. Had a little trouble at Dolina the other day with someone threatening me, accusing me of trying to steal their car

the only time you should be in cherno or elektro is on spawn to get the basic loot to head north, or if you're looking for pvp

haha grillis, hell of a lot more interesting than my first murder
i just turned a corner inside of a building and was faced with a survivor so as a reflex i just killed him
luckily i was carrying a double barrel and he only had a 1911 so he was done before he could get a shot off
then of course theres always that feeling you get after killing a player... could you have talked to him?

Logged in to a server earlier in Cherno. First thing I heard was a helicopter. As it flew round my end of the city I fired off a whole clip of M107 in to it and watched four guys bail out just before it crashed in to the apartments and blew up
About 5 seconds later, still laughing heartily, I hear someone climbing the ladder up to my perch. Turn around, empty a M107 in to him and he didn't drop. 3 rapid shots later he's still not dead, so I go to Alt-F4 (fuck getting killed by a script kiddy!) and hear a little 12-year old voice go "shooting down our helicopter, that wasn't very nice was it?"
The hacking problem right now is next level. Joined a Russian server last night with about 3 invincible guys on it

depends on what gear i have, and if someone else is backing me up without them knowing
ie: me and wobbles were on new characters raiding cherno together before heading north (this was after that invisible guy killed us), he ran into someone without them knowing i was up in the tower in the firehouse we were raiding
they got him with a m249 and started running and low and behold i took chase flanked em, took out his legs and shot him in the face and took all his gear and hid the body
on other occasions i've met random friendlies when playing solo, but only approach if i'm in beaner gear
when you have a larger party with people backing you up with sniper rifles and vehicles etc it's not that big a deal if someone dies as they can get your gear back and pick you back up after turning the guy you approached head into a canoe
solo, i either avoid or kill if they notice me if i have shit i don't want to lose if i die

Used to be shoot on sight until I got the hero skin playing medic (with mates and taking rescue missions via Reddit Rescue Force). I'm happy to play a support role now tbh, keep my friends on their feet and help out strangers from time to time. My friends still operate on the policy of shooting any strangers we see though, unless we can let them pass without risking being seen.

anyone play takistan or fallujah?

Yeah don't bother with them man, honestly. I love Takistan in Arma 2, but the Vilayer guys who've converted it for DayZ aren't very good at what they do...they are server hosters and basically just trying to get more customers by being able to advertise "Switch your server between X number of maps!".
Same with Fallujah. It's like v0.000001 alpha. Extremely sloppy. Vilayer are working on converting another 13 (!) maps for DayZ so I doubt they'll have any spare time to fix the multitude of problems on Fallujah, Takistan and the other 11 incoming maps. Lingor is definitely the best unofficial DayZ map so far but it is still shit compared to Chernarus.

Played Takistan a bit today. Very boring imo, much too sparse - feels like very little effort was put into making it a decent DayZ map. While both Chernarus and Lingor have character, Takistan is just lacking anything like it

Is this even a game? You're afraid of doing wrong by killing other people's avatars?

any of you heads still play this? i'm currently playing with my mate over steam on the BMRF private hive servers (custom weapons, buildings vehicle spawns, etc, not too outrageous though)
and we could use some others to form a squad with. wobbles, deadly, idontreallygiveashit, etc, you guys still play?
