at a rave in a warehouse, trippin dick on 2 doses of some bomb as blotter, tagging a wall, ignoring the techno, and BAM :!: the bass starts rattling the shit out of the tin walls, i look over and there is this little dude in this crazy getup, wearing a gasmask with striped socks on his arms, with his set up pulled into the middle of the dancefloor area, with all kinds of equipment turning knobs and pushing buttons, playing a live p.a. dubstep set.

later found out this guy is called Zapper from north Cali, cool moddafucka.

anyways, the first track he played was called "Krishna Kush" i believe, great piece of music.

Heard a few of Skream's tracks off his Skream! album... thought they were cool... bassy... but thats about it. Wasn't until I heard Skream's June 2007 Essential Mix that I fell in love. Still one of my favourite dubstep mixes tbh.

To top it off, hearing Skream's set (and any other dubstep for that matter) played on pK's village speakers at Shambhala 2007 basically engrained dubstep into my soul from there on... only to happen again and again at Sham 08, 09.

Bahl Forward, Rufage amongst a loada grime on my mates mp3 and tinny speakers whilst blazing in a graveyard, maybe about 06-07 was still more into jungle and dnb back then.

Other than hearing Skreams - Midnight Request Line being used in various things like that Souljaboy remix. I would have to say the first time I heard a dubstep track and was like "HOLY FUCK, WHAT IS THIS!!" was when one of my friends was DJing and threw down Bar 9 - Untitled Symphony/ Murda Sound.

And also barefiles.com (before they 'sold out'). Wow, they had the greatest mixes ever, XI's mix was "Barefile mix of the week" or something, and a Viral Radio show featuring U Dub b2b T-Mus b2b Myrkur b2b + b2b Èw00t (27-Jan-2008) in SWEDISH, a language I don't even SPEAK!
Sigh, nostalgic times... Still have them; in my iPod, here's the tracklistings
Viral Radio is dutch :). Aswell all the djs in that mix.
Yea, I know. I always fail to remember =\

I heard Skream on a shithouse car stereo in 2007 and did not really take to it. I heard Scorn's Stealth Album last year and loved it, which led onto dubstep. I moved onto Loefah, Vex'd and the likes from there. I appreciate Skream quite a bit more now, with tracks like Filth who couldn't.

Listening to Radio 1 over t'interweb when living in Vancouver in 2006 and hearing MAH's Dubstep Warz while making some dinner (when I say dinner, I mean mixing bowl full of frosties and milk cos I was too baked too see straight :D )

Couple of days later, Rogue State hooked me up with some free tunes and been hooked ever since.

my first experiance was at a playaz night @fabric about 2/2.5 years ago. i had wondered into room 3 after getting a tad lost and just heard this mental sound oooozing out the walls and floor. this was my first glimpse at dubstep. ive got no idea who was on the decks though.

after this, i met up with the people id lost and explained my discovery. no one had heard of it but we did some research the next day and found out that it was dubstep.
