As far as balls-out, insane, face-meltingly awesome action / fight sequences, it has to be Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete. The fight scenes are absolutely incredible. Mid-air sword fighting whilst tearing down highways on motor-bikes. Flying through the air whilst buildings are being hurled at each other. I have yet to see something action-wise that can top this...

I haven't seen metropolis but M. is fantastic, it's kind of weird but more chilling imo. Peter Lorre is amazing in it.

A Scanner Darkly
Heavenly Creatures
Jurassic park
Titanic (I was young)
Are all contenders. I'd probably say Jurassic Park, that film never gets old.

Titanic was great man. Obviously I can't watch it now, but at the time it was intense. And Jurassic Park is the ultimate epic film, definitely my best cinema experience. If it's films I've seen since I've grown up
A Scanner Darkly
Heavenly Creatures
Requiem for a dream
Hotel Rwanda

FUCKING the usual suspects, forgot about that.
One of the most 'wow' endings ever. Kevin Spacey pulls off that shit perfectly. Cleverest villain in film history.

The Fountain
Funny Games (GERMAN version)

Funny Games is wicked, do NOT read about it before you watch it though. And do NOT watch it if you're feeling a bit down, or on a comedown.

I think a lot of people are just spouting off the names of their favourite films rather than epic films.

Is it me or does this thread have entirely the wrong definition of "epic"?

I got to the end of Page 3, posted and then realised you two had already made the point. Please accept my sincerest apologies.
All of your films are very epic.
